If people are against a shutdown, and that would be all three branches of goverment, than why is there a shutdown?

Aren't the maggies in control of EVERYTHING in Washington?!?! Tell us why there is a shutdown than with the Big Cheato in power????

And news flash for you: Illegals are not allowed healthcare.

Stop drinking the grape koolaide.

But tell me, do they let illegals have healthcare in kangaLand?

Salty is lying, it’s no misrepresentation of the issue. You’re being too kind.

As usual, the PEOPLE will place blame for the shut down on the republicans. They never effectively play this game. I can’t think of a shit down that’s occurred where the republicans didn’t take the political hit. Democrats understand how to message the shut down far better and will do so again.

The problems the republicans have are

1) they just passed the Big Beautiful Bill - which is unpopular and they passed it with only republicans. So the effects of that are all on them.
2) they started with a lie - democrats want to preserve health care for illegals. Only the MAGA dummy crowd believes that and they aren’t enough to apply any pressure to democrats
3) since republicans haven’t negotiated anything under Trump, saying “vote for our bill and well agree to negotiate for the next two months” looks like a lie on its face and will
Sway no one.
3.5) republicans already got a CR in March or whenever and didn’t negotiate afterwards so like number 3 - lie on its face.
4) Trump’s an idiot and undermines any possible leverage they could gain because he’ll keep lying (he can’t help hhimself) and he’ll drive moderates and independents further away from any Republican position on this by doing things like “mass firing” and being joyful of the pain to regular people.

Sounds like your checking light has malfunctioned. Best get someone to check it out for you. Here's some reading material for you while you wait.

The Power of the Purse

“All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.”
— U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 7, clause 1

“No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.”
— U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 9, clause 7

FWIW: The last part (after the ; ) of the last stanza is colloquially know as "transparency" by some.

Already did. In the other thread I asked a simple question. Which illegals are getting federal government health subsidies Trump is claiming democrats are pushing as it relates to the shutdown. I said you'd give a nonanswer and you did, as usual. You couldn't articulate it even if it were true but since it's not - Trump and the republicans are lying - you can't honestly and factually answer the question. So you do what all the republicans do - LIE

For one example just look at the Des Moines Iowa School Superintendent that ICE detained.

You are wrong on all your points Blackman, per usual.

You, as usual, are clueless and have no idea what you’re talking about.

And In the Case of the guy you're referring to, It's pretty safe to assume he’s on employer based insurance and not getting a federal subsidy for a federal health plan. You'd know that if you gave a second's thought rather than type nonsense for the sake of typing. Stick to growing corn or whatever it is that you do because every other subject is beyond you.

It’s the kind of stupidity you typed and that goes through MAGA heads during their circle jerk or reach around sessions and get yelled proudly and repeated that show how ill equipped MAGAs are for any kind of reasonable and informed conversations.

Keep it shut it the hell down! Historically federal workers got back pay when the shutdowns were over. This time they're getting pink slips.

https://apnews.com/article/donald-tr...ae5562c2ac79d2

This is not an ideal way to cut the beast down to size. It should be done with more input from Congress and more gradually, through early retirement and the like. But it's better than nothing!

I agree. For different reasons as you but I have no issue with the govt staying shut down for the next year.

Shouldn't you be telling the person who made the quote? Why are you telling me? I didn't say it. Surely you told whoever said the quote when it happened, right?
