The internet says it was the 1st Trump administration. I guess we should not be surprised there is another government shutdown during the first year of the 2nd Trump administration.

The internet said a lot more about Trump too.

... The Dems caused the Shutdown... They are to blame. ...

And the American people surely KNOW that.

The problem as I understand it is that the Republican leadership has scuttled funding for healthcare in the One Big Ugly Bill. Healthcare that millions rely on.

I’m not going to say that medicare and the affordable care act doesn’t have It’s flaws but defunding it without replacing it with something better will just cause the system to collapse further and bring suffering to people who can least afford it.

If the democrats are willing to fight for that and this is the only leverage they have then that’s alright with me.

Trump and his cronies are the ones who want to destroy the government by turning it into a crony capitalist machine.

Republicans are going to eventually realize they are on the wrong path.

Didn't scuttle Healthcare.
Just removed Taxpayer subsidy for the insurance.

Only marginally true. The one big ugly bill changes more than just insurance subsidies. Rural hospitals are going to be hit particularly hard and poor people will be affected more than ever.

FTFY. No need to thank me. BTW: The Left-wingnuts also want to resurrect, i.e. fund, their favorite Pravda Central channels NPR and PBS, probably also USAID and other NGOs too, in a goal-seek to spend another $1.5 TRILLION dollars, that we do not have, for a 2 month extension via CR.

As much as I abort CRs, if Congress can't do their job to pass an actual budget, then chite-can them, which is where I see the Left-wingnuts going by being on the 10%-20% side of nearly every issue. EX: Schmuk Shumer is likely toast already.

Wanna fund that junk and Ukraine? Seems the simple fix it to make many of those items tax deductible donations and let the left write them of their taxes at the end of the year and I'll donate to causes I like similarly.

Dear WYID, Thank you for pointing out the giant republican lie that only dumb shits would believe.

If you want to criticize the fact that millions of Americans rely on healthcare subsidies feel free, because that’s true. But it’s a damn lie to say that illegal immigrants are enrolling in us insurance plans and receiving a subsidy for it.

The truth is that Immigrants put more money into the healthcare system than they take out.

https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...rticle/2798226

The broad strokes of this analysis are (1) immigrants generally use fewer health care services than similar US-born citizens and therefore have lower medical expenditures, and (2) immigrants typically pay taxes and health insurance premiums like most citizens, but (3) federal policies make it more difficult for many immigrants, particularly undocumented immigrants, to receive governmental health assistance from programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act health insurance marketplaces.

The net result is that immigrants generally pay more into the health care system through taxes and premiums than they use in the form of expenditures for health care services. Thus, immigrants effectively help to subsidize the costs of health care for US citizens. The Social Security Administration has long acknowledged that the contributions of undocumented immigrants help sustain the Social Security Trust Fund for citizens.

There has been many Government shutdowns. We really don't need a Federal Government anymore. They don't work for the people anyway.

The most recent shutdown was during the 1st Trump administration.

Trump doesn't govern. He wants to dictate.

Trump doesn't want to Dictate. In fact, he has no ability to dictate. Democrats are spewing out that stupid idea and you're just buying into it. If anything, the Democrats have more of an aspiration to Dictate than Trump does.

Like the last time when he canned people than turned around and begged them to come back? That really showed lack of preparation and planning. Just what i've come to expect from the current admin.

They surely know one party is willing to meet and compromise and the other just wants to dictate.

But you have no say coming from the land of socialized medicine.

After all these years and potuses, have the repub come up with a comprehensive health care plan *YET*? Or, as they once commented, "We are willing to debate point by point the other parties plan." because they still lack one. Hell, even donny couldn't state a plan during the last running for office.

...and did they offer a health care plan? I haven't heard of one from them in quite a few years.

Have "we" ever?
Looky looky. National Palestinian Radio is still on the air without the goverment teat in its mouth.

Now why of why does a thing of the libbys still operate when the do nothing repubs can't get things done on the Hill and have a shut down?

Maybe one side listens and compromises?

But keep on dictating and not following the wishes of your constituents. We'll see how that goes.
