The charges against Comey, lying to Congress, are bull shit. But then so were his prosecutions and investigations of Michael Flynn, Martha Stewart and Frank Quattrone. It’s ironic. He helped pioneer the use of innocuous lies to bring down the jack boot of the federal government on people who never should have been charged with felonies. Now that jackboot’s about to come down on him. The charges are so weak though that he’s unlikely to be convicted.

And yeah, Trump needs to drop the whole retribution thing. It makes him come off like he’s got a screw loose and divides the country. I can see why he’s pissed, after he got fucked over in multiple Manhattan court rooms. But he should take the high road.

Could somebody please explain why Trump’s so upset with Comey? I honestly don’t know. Wasn’t he following orders from the head of the DOJ? Yeah, he was incompetent — look at his handling of the Hillary Clinton emails — but you don’t throw people in jail for that. You just fire them, which is what Trump should have done to Comey when he took office.

Fuck the high road. Nobody ever took it concerning Trump, he’s just following suit.

That's right. Democrats started it with Barack Ubama and Sleepy Joe.

President Trump will finish it.

Fair enough. I’d argue Democrats have been more egregious and had more success initially going after Republicans. “Initially” because often when this bull shit goes through the appeals process it gets overturned. The Republicans usually fail on the first try, like with Bill and Hillary Clinton and John Edwards.

Anyway we don’t want to end up with a civil war. And Republicans should want to be on the moral high ground. As the WSJ said, Trump achieved retribution at the ballot box in 2024. Why go after your enemies on weak grounds when they’re not going to be convicted, or have their convictions stand up on appeal?

This a game that the Democrat politicians are better at than the Republicans, because a lot of the Democrats are lawyers. Take the Stormy Daniels felony convictions for example. Compare to John Edwards. John Edwards used donor funds to pay off Rachel Hunter and got off. Trump used his own money. Edward’s case comes a lot closer to involving actual campaign funds. Edward’s is a very successful plaintiffs lawyer

It was wrong when Obama did it, but because Obama did it, it's therefore right when Trump does it. But if it's now right, doesn't that mean it was also right when Obama did it. So what were the complaints about?

So which one is it: Is it wrong or right? Or is this a way of admitting that it is wrong, but we'll allow it because Obama did it? Because that would mean that you essentially sold out your personal moral values and no longer care about right vs wrong. Which is a bad thing when the left does it, but is now ok because the left did it?

And doesn't this mean that everything Obama did is either right, or potentially correct if Trump ever also decides to do it? Is anyone comfortable making that claim?

Ones sense of logic to essentially boils down to a crappy computer program:

If Trump did it, it = right.
If Obama did it, it = wrong.
If Trump and Obama did it, it = <brain broken; begin trolling>

This is what happens when you no longer have any personal values. Must be a living nightmare.

Damn right. We pay the bastards in Washington to provide peace and prosperity, not to go at each other like a bunch of professional wrestlers

Edit: It’s the politicians who have no personal values, not esteemed board members, including me, who are sometimes misled by said politicians and the media.

What ever happened to, [/I]" . . .no one is above the law!" [/I]?

We heard a lot of that when the progressive left was trying to remove candidate Trump before 2016. We heard a lot of that after he was elected and even m ore when he became a private citizen again.

I just hope the Comey prosecutors have a solid case that is provable in court . . .not like the crap case the Republicans brought against President Clinton.

"Retribution"?!? For what prey tell?

Was it something trivial or tiny, like falsely accusing him of made up crimes and persecuting him for 10+ years, via endless lawfare, including secret FISA courts, from a whole of government approach (both State and Federal), simply because he beat their heir-apparent (heir-diktat?) - olde Hillbags?!?

Pfffttttzzzz... sounds trivial, tiny even, eh?

I think I recall this olde movie line:
Let it be O'bama-written! Let it be done!

It is the double standards of Democrats that has consistently gotten worse over the last 35 years.

I think it really all did start with Watergate, and who went journalism schools after that and the goals they had to break the big story. It started to become obvious with Bill Clinton in the White House that the main stream Washington DC and New York press corps were slanting stories if favor of Democrats. They just kept getting more brazen all the time.

The other watershed event was the Supreme Court hearing of Bork that flipped the script there as well,

It is doubtful that Brennan and others will serve time in prison. The worst offenses they committed have already went past the statue of limitations so they can't be touched.

The Democrats corruption has to be brought into the open for more people to see.

OK, I'll ask again. What exactly did Comey do that hurt Trump? Yeah, he may have gone around yelling "Russia, Russia, Russia" from time to time, but so what. If anything he helped Trump more than he hurt him by breaking with FBI precedent and announcing that the bureau was reopening the Hillary Clinton email investigation right before the 2016 election.

A friend of mine called an 18 year old classmate a whore. He also owned a lot of firearms and Harleys. Years later her brother became police chief, and cooked up a reason to arrest my friend. Although innocent he was sentenced to 10 years probation during which time he couldn't get a good job or travel. That's pretty similar to what's happening to Comey and it could happen to you.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to say the DOJ should go after Comey because Manhattan Democrats went after Trump. Yeah, what Leticia James did was below the belt. The $500 million award will be largely reduced on appeal. Bragg's felony convictions in the Stormy Daniels case were complete bull shit. They may not be overturned on appeal, but the court issued an unconditional discharge, meaning that Trump won't receive a fine, probation, or any other penalty. The E. Jean Carroll case should go in a different bucket. This was a civil case not involving the government. Carroll received a small award, but then Dumb Ass Trump couldn't keep his mouth shut and now has to pay $83 million for defaming her. He got screwed over by the plaintiffs' bar. So what does he do? He goes and appoints a member of said plaintiffs' bar, RFK Jr to head HHS. And RFK Jr, as his main mission, proceeds to make it easier to sue vaccine and drug companies, to pad his pocket and his buddies' pockets. Trump deserves to pay that $83 million for being a dumb ass.

Same for the federal cases, for stockpiling classified documents in his bathroom and trying to overturn an election. While there's a lot more justification for a conviction for those charges, particularly election interference, how do they involve Comey? And while Trump wasted money and time defending himself, the cases never came close to working all their way through the courts.

There's no excuse for targeting Comey. I don't like him, I don't like what he did, but he shouldn't face bogus charges.

Don't hold your breath. It's even weaker than the case Republicans brought against Clinton for lying about getting blow jobs. Much weaker. Comey probably didn't authorize the leaks but rather was made aware of them after the fact, which is to say he probably didn't lie, like Clinton did.

Tit for tat weaponized lawfare. The Democrats are just getting back what they did to Trump during Biden's tenure. Comey's a snake and I'm not surprised. This proves that our Governement is not doing all they can for the people just so the power hungry politicians can stoke their egos and storke their cocks going after their political enemies.

The difference here is that Trump is going after anyone who he has a beef with and using the levers of government to get his revenge. He’s using the fact that some people in the government opposed him in court as an excuse to go after people who didn’t have anything to do with it.
