The Democratic Par5ty used to be the party of peace. Peace rather than war and peaceful protest rather than war.
that is no longer the case:
As Rush Limbaugh did before him, Charlie Kirk showed that Democrats, and progressive liberals in general, cannot compete in the arena of ideas. Kirk refuted their agendas in every topic and exposed their mendacious intellectual dishonesty and moral bankruptcy publicly every time he sat under that awning. . . .and so they killed him rather than talk with him.
So much for the often expressed desire to " . . .have a conversation about . . ." whatever.

Why are you discussing democrats in the Republican party thread. Stick to the subject.

The party under Trump has flipped the age old script of who is for the “working man”. My whole family growing up was democrats because, at the time, the perception was that republicans were for the rich and democrats the middle class. That’s been completely turned on its head. Today’s dems talk about people who didn’t go to college, more people than actually did btw, like they’re pathetic losers. So many instances after the election of white liberal women being apoplectic about Trump winning white women who didn’t go to college. Some women want to be wives and mothers more than a boss lady. Good for them, but dems don’t see it that way. If they don’t take on a ton of debt, many times on a useless degree, they’re lower than whale shit as far as dems are concerned.

Yeah, the Republican party has changed.
Just my opinion, but it's bifurcated into MAGA and RINO (Republicans in Normal Operation).
A portion of the MAGA is just kissing Trump's butt.
The RINO side has become a very small percentage.
Working man's party?
A closer look at consumer spending in Trump's economy may offer clues.
Quote:
The U.S. economy is running more and more on luxury fuel — the spending power of the wealthy.
Consumers in the top 10% of the income distribution were behind 49.2% of total spending in the second quarter, the highest level in data going back to 1989, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi.
That share ticked up from 48.5% in the first quarter and is well above the roughly 35% level of the early 1990s, according to Moody’s Analytics’ review of Federal Reserve data, published by Bloomberg.

Quote:
“Looking at the data, it’s not a mystery why most Americans feel like the economy isn’t working for them,” Zandi wrote Tuesday on X.
Back on Main Street, many Americans are struggling, facing a one-two punch of higher inflation and weaker job growth as talk of “stagflation” returns.

The richest people in the country are overwhelmingly democrats. The richest zip codes in the country are overwhelmingly democrat. Limousine liberals don’t give a single fuck about you or your problems, they only need your vote.

You might want to rethink that...

Analysis by the Americans for Tax Fairness group earlier this year showed that 100 billionaire families donated $2.6 billion to candidates for last November's election, more than two-and-a-half times the amount spent in 2020.
The billionaires "heavily favoured Republicans", the report said, with 70% of their donations going to the GOP, helping Donald Trump back into the White House.

Is Elon Musk a Democrat? He spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars backing Trump and other Republican candidates.
Bezos? Amazon donated $1 million to fund the Trump inauguration, which Bezos himself attended.
During the 2024 election cycle, some analyses showed billionaires nearly evenly split in their support, with some backing Democrats and others backing Republicans.
Of top 10 Congresspersons with highest worth, 7 are Republican, 3 are Democrats.
Quote:
The great bulk of that money backed former president and current Republican nominee Donald Trump, who benefited from over $450 million of billionaire donations–more than three times as much as Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, who was the beneficiary of $143 million of billionaire contributions. That’s a 75%-25% split in Trump’s favor.

Those are direct donations. Lots more money than that in Washington like Zuk’s 450mil to “help” people vote and Soros funding every wackjob DA he could find.
I also didn’t mention political donations or billionaires, although I can see where you made that connection. I’m talking about bastions of wealthy people who live in overwhelmingly democratic areas, like DC/Weston/Westchester/etc.

A description of the tea party from the TV show the Newsroom. Most of these apply to the current republican party.
Ideological purity.
Compromise as weakness.
A fundamentalist belief in scriptural literalism.
Denying science.
Unmoved by facts.
Undeterred by new information.
A demonization of education.
A hostile fear of progress.
A need to control women’s bodies.
Severe xenophobia.
Tribal mentality.
Intolerance of dissent.
A hatred of the federal government.

Speaking of the 'Republican party'.
More and more of them are beginning to voice their displeasure with Trump's 'best of the best' selections...
Particularly Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Plenty of rancor for FBI head Kash Patel
Discontent with director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency Bill Pulte.
RFKJr
Even Ted Cruz is complaining.
Maybe a little more changing in Republicans?

More 'Republican discord...or maybe changes for the positive...
Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE)
Quote:
“There have been some wrong statements made, to say the least,” Bacon replied. “When the Attorney General said that they were going to go after hate speech, she backed off of that, but it was wrong. And I think the president doing threats against media is also wrong. We don’t threaten the media. I think all right to say [Kimmel] was wrong, that information was false. I think there’s grounds for that. But to threaten media and say you’re going to pull their license, that’s not what America’s about. And we do have a freedom of speech, freedom of the press. And we should defend that.”
|
Quote:
“Absolutely,” Bacon said. He added, “Like I’ve mentioned before, he’s a populist. He centers on anger and opposition. That’s what he does. But he had a chance to be more Ronald Reagan and try to unify both sides on this. It would be one thing if it was all Republicans being murdered, but it’s not.”
|
Quote:
“Reagan stood up to Gorbachev. I don’t see the moral clarity right now out of the White House. Ronald Reagan had moral clarity. Now, he also was willing to negotiate and try to lower the tensions. But he knew that communism was evil, and it was clear that he stood steadfast with our NATO allies. And the president sends out such mixed messages on NATO and totally immoral, ambiguous messages about Ukraine and Russia …it’s probably the thing that bothers me the most.”

ChatGPT's telling me more billionaires contributed to Democrats than Republicans in 2020. Maybe they saw the writing on the wall, and wanted to back winners in 2020 and 2024.
If I were a billionaire I damn sure wouldn't donate to Democrats. Billionaires pay much, much more than their fair share of taxes and have to continually listen to Democrats who say they don't. The progressive wing of the party would make it pretty damn hard to ever become and stay a billionaire. Sanders wants to tax billionaires up to 8% of their wealth ANNUALLY. Kamala Harris wants an annual 25% mark to market capital gains tax on everything the billionaire owns. The compliance burden associated with either of those taxes would be immense. If either were imposed on me, I'd absolutely leave the country rather than spend every waking hour working on reporting taxes. Thank goodness I'm not a billionaire!
There's one way the Republican Party hasn't changed. It encourages people to build businesses, provide lots of jobs, and become wealthy in the process. You can't say the same thing about many Democrats. If the left wing of the Democratic Party were in charge, we just might not have Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Tesla, SpaceX, Dell, Walmart, etc. And we'd all be poorer for it. Like the French.
