Fresh, but foreseeable batch of chaos injected due to these tariffs. Remember, conservative groups questioned the powers Tariffman was using for many of these and brought forth a suit challenging them in court.

Before we start blaming liberals, let's remember how this started. A fake conservative took a very liberal legal position from conservative thinktanks and used it very, very broadly and got challenged by a group of conservatives.

Do you buy, sell or hold?

Trade wars have consequences. Let's hope the soybean market can avoid a catastrophe.

In his inauguration speech, President Donald Trump promised that his sweeping tariff regime would help America become a "manufacturing nation once again." But so far his tariffs and his broader handling of the economy are achieving the opposite reality: New data shows America's manufacturing sector has been shrinking consistently — and executives in the industry are complaining about tariffs as a key factor.

Bloomberg reported Tuesday that "US factory activity shrank in August for a sixth straight month, driven by a pullback in production that shows manufacturing remains bogged down by higher import duties."

Thank you, Tariffman. These job numbers are knocking it out of the park

If the Supreme Court doesn't save them and grant Trump powers he doesn't actually have, the Trump admin will need to implement a series of additional moves to establish a new basis for many of its tariffs.

And even then many will be time limited rather than permanent or perpetual depending on what authority is invoked.

Tariffman is already trying to take pre-emptive actions.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-shee...g-trade-deals/

He's also confirmed he doesn't care that Americsns pay more die to his tariff tantrums

Bessent has confirmed that Tariffman would refund ablut half the tariff revenue generated to the importers who paid them

If it happens, I wonder if Trump will claim he's being forced to give money back to foreign nations

If the costs are carried over to the retailer or domestic seller, of course the end user pays them ultimately. Do you really think an importer is going to EAT that loss in profit? Nah

Plus, there is also the idea that if retailers think they could get away with selling things at inflated prices from where they are pre-tariff to where they are post tariff, why would they reduce the costs?

Why not just make more money off the stupid Americans who buy imported shit anyway- regardless if the tariffs are repealed?

That's my concern. Giant Eagle is selling 1 pd Folgers Columbian for 21.99. If customers buy at that price, why would they ever reduce it back to the pre pandemic prices of 6.00?

Same with beef, wine and more!!

Cat is out of the bag, and ALL of this falls straight from the guy who UNILATERALLY decided to enact tariffs vs Congress approving them. It's laughable that ANY of his base believed his bullshit lies about the reducing costs on anything like groceries or rising inflation. This has always been a retribution tour and completely fuck-all not about the consumers.

He couldn't give a single shit about them.

You get nothing

Importer gets a tax cut. And you hope everyone eventually drops their prices back down

Too late. China already cancelled 2 billion dollars in purchases. Who's gonna pay these farmers who lost their ass because that orange asshole thought he'd try playing with matches and burned the house down.

And that's just soybeans!!

Sounds like the soybean farmers want a touch of socialism and populism with their capitalism.

Will Trump buy those soybeans to protect a key constituency and American jobs... drop the tariffs a bitt... make them a key part of the trade deal... or will he respect the market and let them take a bath?

Suffering is what trump voters deserve and need. It's the only way to deprogram a cult. Let them suffer.
