If it wasn’t for gerrymandering the Democrats wouldn’t exist

Yeah . . .everyone does it. Nobody should.

My thought on this is to make conventional districts conform to blocks of contiguous POSTL ZIP CODE regions! There would have to be tweaks to ensure that voters actually lived there and so on, but that is the basic idea.

No posts from Democrats in this thread yet, which shows the "liberal lads" on the board are a brighter group than Democratic politicians and media pundits in general. They're wisely not jumping into this. The Democrats out gerrymandered the Republicans for at least 60 years, up until 2012, and even if Texas picks up 5 seats through redistricting mid cycle, its allocation of representatives will still be fairer than blue states like Maryland, New Mexico and Illinois. Trump got 46% of the New Mexico vote and the state still doesn't have a Republican in the House! That's racist, discrimination against the rednecks who populate the southern and eastern parts of the state.

Several Governors of ultra Blue States are saying they will do their own GerryMandering.

The only catch to that is in most of these blue States, there is nothing left to Gerrymander.

Take Massachusetts. They are allowed 9 US House members. Guess how many are Republicans.

Zero.

The left is just mad that the right is finally playing the game that they have played for years. It's kinda fun to see them bitch and moan about how unfair this is.

You obviously don’t remember the last time Democrats fled the state to protest mid decades redistricting back in 2003. It was a shitty thing to do back then and it’s a shitty thing to do now. Austin was cracked into multiple districts stretching hundreds of miles just to dilute the most democratic region in the state.

If it wasn't for slavery, America wouldn't exist. I know the right just loves to deliberately forget.

Now I hear talk of arresting the Texas lawmakers who left. Another thing I am hearing is that the Texas constitution provides for their removal as elected representatives if they are deemed too have "abandoned the state."

It is not clear to me that either of those things are true.

Anybody really know?
