Default A nice quiet hotel in a safe area

In the next month or so, I plan on going to KC on a much deserved vacation. I am mainly going to see the WW1 museum, but also plan on seeing the Currency museum next door and the Steamboat Arabia museum. I also want to make it over to the Truman Library and maybe Lone Jack Cemetery and Museum if I get a chance. I was told there was another history museum near the Truman museum, but I forgot its name. Also, is the Lone Jack Battlefield still in existence?

Anyway, I was just looking for a few recommendations on hotels. I am not looking for anything fancy, just a nice place in a safe area. Also, any good places to eat. I like BBQ, pizza, and burgers.

Gimli,
The battle was in and around Lone Jack, not a specific single location. However, look up Jackson Counties Blue and Grey Park, where a portion of the action happened just NW of Lone Jack. The hiking trails may be of interest. One of the trails is rumored to be the trail both sides used to move the dead and wounded towards medical and burial locations and there's stories of ghosts along that trail.

Lovett Coffee House on the south side of Lone Jack is a decent spot for breakfast or lunch if you go out that way.

Thought I read awhile back that Steamboat Museum in City Market was closing? You May want to check that?

There is a Fairfield Inn on Main St in KC. Walking distance to WWI museum, Money museum, a free streetcar ride to the City Market area with Steamboat Arabia. Union Station nearby often has interesting exhibits--check it out Gates and Jack Stack are nearby for BBQ. Il Lazarone has great pizza and it is a short walk from the Steamboat Arabia--and on the streetcar line. Truman Library is about 30 minute easy drive from the hotel.

You should try it. My favorite BBQ. Massage place next door as well, at least there was the last time I was there.

If you're interested in the founders. Flint lock Cemetery is a few miles down the road from Liberty on Flint Lock Street. Its a dead end (no pun intended) but it is brimming with the people who came from Kentucky and founded Liberty, Gower, Plattsburg, and Kearney.
