A problem that I see, with leaving a weapon in the open, is that someone else may be able to reach it, before I do. I would have to be able to trust the provider with my life.

My last “regularly-seen” gal, before she moved to CA, and I more-or-less retired from the hobby, knew that I carried, and not only approved, but indicated that she felt safer when I was around. I wish that I could find another, like her, a companion I could trust.

Exactly.
Both ECG and I have carried for decades. Most of the KC gals I used to see were well aware I carried. And, a couple of them carried as well.
