I just asked ChatGPT for the average annual income of white-headed households in South Africa, expressed in U.S. dollars and adjusted for purchasing power. She came up with $93,600 per household in 2022/2023. She also tells me median household income in the USA in 2023 was $80,610, and the average in 2022 was $106,400. So I wouldn't think white South Africans are running for the door.

Ramaphosa did sign the Expropriation Act in 2025, which would allow for land expropriation without compensation under certain conditions. While it doesn't specifically target whites, it's possible the legislation could be used to preferentially take land from Afrikaners, and put South Africa on the same road as Zimbabwe. So maybe Trump did a service for South Africa by bringing this up. Still as noted by others here, the way he did it wasn't ideal. It's possibly in our best interests if our allies and enemies believe the American president, the leader of the free world, still has all his marbles.
