Nobody is laughing. High-ranking officials in Pakistan and India know well that the religious clashes between Hindus and Muslims on the Indian subcontinent date all the way back to 637 AD when Caliph Omar (father-in-law of the prophet mohammed) attacked Mumbai.

Fast-forward 1388 years - Kashmir is merely the most recent chapter.
