Default Mack to lay off 250-350

Quote:
Trucking industry giant blames Trump tariffs in layoff of hundreds of workers
Quote:
Mack Trucks will lay off between 250 and 350 workers at its Lehigh Valley Operations center outside Allentown over the next three months, due to economic uncertainty caused by U.S. tariffs, a company spokesperson said Thursday.

“Heavy-duty truck orders continue to be negatively affected by market uncertainty about freight rates and demand, possible regulatory changes, and the impact of tariffs,” spokesperson Kimberly Pupillo said.

“Today we informed our employees that this unfortunately means we’ll have to lay off 250-350 people at LVO over the next 90 days,” Pupillo said. “We regret having to take this action, but we need to align production with reduced demand for our vehicles.”

Great job, boys. You're killing it. Jobs. The economy. The livelihoods of hard working Americans.

Anyone who thinks trump cares at all about working class people losing their jobs is either lying to themselves or they should be deemed too stupid to vote.

He hasn't done a single thing (in either term) to improve the lives of working class people. Not one single thing.

Heard from someone that Alcoa and arconic both prob announcing layoffs w in next 60 days. I’d be willing to bet that the majority of sp 500 companies will be announcing layoffs and write downs before Q2 earnings season. Maybe Trump will triple/quadtruple tariffs over next month so the rich and corporations no longer pay taxes, he will tout USA factories will be prospering with all this new money w out realizing 90 percent of the population won’t be able to afford shit. And as Europe found a way to bypass Russia completely despite being heavily reliant on energy, the rest of world will bypass USA and more disastrously US Dollars (Trump either doesn’t understand this or still believes god who the world can’t like w out).

Hoping he’s up to his banter as deal guy thou the only thing he’s ever been great at is bankrupting casinos and real estate.

Well, he's great at lying about real estate anyway.

... What's NOT irrelevant is WHY. ... And the reason for the layoffs.

Wonderin' how many of the 250-350 drovers are illegal.
Reckon we'll find out.

Salty... these are layoffs for the guys building the trucks at the Mack plant in Lehigh Valley, not drivers.

Get the illegal immigration twaddle out of here. Demand is down, bigly... on par with reading comprehension these days

Man, this eliminated their entire US workforce?

That's terrible news to hear.

The OP rarely gets past scratching the surface.

“UAW President Shawn Fain criticized the company's decision in a statement Thursday, noting the Stellantis Board of Directors approved a several-billion-dollar dividend and are considering an additional stock buyback, also valued at $2.6 billion.

"Two weeks ago, Stellantis said the sky was falling because of auto tariffs, and said they had to lay off workers, claiming they are losing money," Fain said in the statement.

"But then all of a sudden, a miracle happened: they found billions of dollars, nearly half of last year’s profits, to pay to Wall Street.”

BAHAHAHA

OP knows that Mack location isn't owned by Stellantis.

But I do appreciate the bump

Mack is owned by Stellantis. Fain called them out because he knows more than you do.

Thanks for playing Mr Gristle. Another epic fail.

Mack Trucks and the LVO are owned by Volvo. If you're going to fact-check, get it right.
