In the 1970s, passing the "Equal Rights Amendment" to the Constitution was a big thing. It sounded right and it nearly made it, lacking ratification by only one state in the end. What killed it then was the growing perception that the real agenda behind it was more than "equality" for women, It was perceived that the leftists really wanted to open up society to much of the LGBTQ (whatever) agenda items that have become normalized today. Most Americans didn't
want that and it was left to expire.

That there are so Mamy women in leadership roles in politics today is proof of that the "good" aspects of the ERA, the parts we were sold on in the early going, have indeed become reality today. All of the pink suits at the presidential address attest to that as do the numbers of strong women in key leadership positions of the current administration.

That each and every one of those pink suited Democratic legislators had on the previous day voted against banning biological men (X-Y chromosomes) from competing in women's sports is an assault on the protections and empowerments for women and girls enshrined in our Title IX laws.

This sort of thing is exactly why the ERA never made into law.
