At near capacity during the height of the COVID crisis, hospital systems were losing tens of millions each month caring for COVID patients, rather than focusing on their primary revenue generating activity: surgeries. “If you aren’t cutting anyone open, you aren’t making money” is a commonly accepted belief in hospital systems. Employees not involved directly in patient care are periodically furloughed in order to reduce costs.

A business operating at near capacity is losing money; focus is shifted from efforts that have generated more revenue.

I wonder what the hospital COOs thought about this “fake” virus while they were trying to stop the fiscal hemorrhaging? Why didn’t they call shenanigans, instead of asking that people to take whatever measures they could in order to minimize the impact?

“Science” will lie to you when you’re getting your “science” from politicians. If you need to be spoon fed and don’t want to accept responsibility for discerning what the truth is, expect that someone will most definitely shove some thing in your mouth which is the truth how they want you to believe it..

When you’re admitted to a hospital in the future, be sure to remind the clinical staff you wore a fake mask during COVID and how right you were; I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.

I don't work under any kind of science grant myself. But I support and interact with many who do. Again, I don’t have to lookup anything about grants, as I know how they work and what room there is for abuse. Between peer review and university oversight, it’s kind of tricky.

But what you actually implied was that because the research was funded by the government, the researcher was motivated to steer the results to what was desired by the government. Again, this is a completely flawed perspective on how federally funded research grants work.
