Unsurprisingly the article doesn’t stand for the premise you initially presented.

The article I read said Pfizer and the US govt contracted for enough vaccine for 50 million Americans. That was before FDA approval. When FDA approval seemed imminent, they tried to contract for more and Pfizer said it had committments for other countries. There are other companies with other vaccines coming.

Again, in the US, the pandemic is well underway. The CDC "line" is now if you've had COVID you have immunity for likely a year.
Which it wasn't earlier which undermined the effectiveness of a vaccine and certain treatments.

So this situation seems high reasonable.

But now you are an "America First" Trumpist.

Did you get your PS5 order in before they sold out?

There's gonna be a lot of hiccups in this whole COVID vaccination process-logistical, political, legal, scientific, etc. IMO, the whole "vaccine will save us" window will soon be shut by the "herd immunity" window if it isn't already.

Somebody posted this link in another thread :

which basically backs up my theory. Note that it's from an acceptable left leaning source.

For all of modern medical history, Christakis writes in Apollo’s Arrow, vaccines and cures for infectious disease have typically arrived, if they arrive, only in the end stage of the disease, once most of the damage had already been done and the death rate had dramatically declined. For measles, for scarlet fever, for tuberculosis, for typhoid, the miracle drugs didn’t bring rampant disease to a sudden end — they shut the door for good on outbreaks that had largely died out already. This phenomenon is called the McKeown hypothesis — that medical interventions tend to play only a small role compared to public-health measures, socioeconomic advances, and the natural dynamics of the disease as it spreads through a population.

Emmanuel is stating that the U.S. should not be given preferential treatment by vaccine manufacturers to the detriment of other countries. I happen to agree with that.

Here is what gnadfly wrote:

"while the supposed incoming biden team doesn't want to vaccinate our older people but wants to send the vaccine to other countries so that younger, poorer or people of color come before our elderly"

That is untrue. Even Emmanuel does not state that. The statement by Emmanuel was from 2014 and in no way is relatable to the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine today. I have a 101 year old relative in a nursing home and they will be getting their vaccines in a matter of days.

whether you agree with it or not those on the biden team would divide up the vaccine in another manner

and you should thank trump for your 101 year old relative in a nursing home being prioritized, for under biden it would have been a chancy thing
