I have to start writing down our bets. My memory is certainly not what it used to be.

Without wanting to argue, what are your current feelings about Trump-Biden in Pennsylvania? I'm fairly certain you see Trump holding the state but do you see any chance for Biden to win back the state for Democrats?

The Senate and the Presidency are key.

The Senate almost more so as to not allow the other side to be able to push through whatever they want.

The Senate can prevent almost all budgetary measures as well as almost anything to do with confirmation of Executive branch appointees, especially to the Judicial Branch.

The Senate is the lynchpin to it all.

the senate is important

in some obtuse ways, the senate gains in importance and power when its majority aligns with the presidency

but in a world where the presidency is held in awful hands

the senate is only useful in thwarting a limited number of things

the senate can take the ideological edge off a supreme court nominee perhaps, although many a masquerade has happened , but the senate would be hard pressed to deny all nominees for long

while the presidency, even in the absence of congressional approval, sets many policies and initiates much

just consider the doj for a moment and how it can be properly or improperly directed

you can have a stalwart constitutionalist and American like barr or obama's wingman like holder

the right or lets say more preferred president is the ultimate bulwark

but hey, these things are opinions

how do they know that? are they opening mail in ballots?

Our bet is easy, one is Trump will win, the other is a Republican sweep. But then again, you are Biden’s age! As far as Pa is concerned, I’m sure the fracking industry here is thrilled Biden named AOC as his green deal advisor. Good luck around these parts with that. Pa will go Trump. Biden will win Philadelphia.

I’m sure you disagree with this poll. The key takeaway for me, Trump leads Biden 54/42 on the economy.

Actually I am Trump's age. And in a lot better physical shape than he is.

Thanks for your thoughts on Pa.

That poll by SRSS and reported by The Hill is one of the dumbest polls I've seen. They lump 15 states together and summarize the results.

In the latest poll in Arizona alone Biden is +9. In Florida Biden +6. In Michigan Biden +8. In NC Trump +3. In Ohio Trump +3. In Pa. Biden +6. In Virginia Biden +10. In Wisconsin Biden +3.

And again I will warn anyone, myself included, to point to a single poll and run with it simply because it supports one's POV. When two polls had Biden +1 and even in the state of Texas, I hesitated to believe it. Latest poll has Trump +6 which is in line with what I expect.

Yes Trump will lead Biden on any poll taken on the economy, just as the same source had Biden solidly in front on health care and in handling of the coronavirus. I think Trump is better for the economy because he will sacrifice everything in favor of the economy -- for better or for worse.

Handling of the Coronavirus? WTF did Biden do except call Trump a racist for stopping travel from China? Please, post me a link that details Biden’s plan on Covid? He hasn’t done a thing. Because he can’t. It’s good to know you’re in better shape than Trump. He’s wealthier and POTUS. Probably beat you in a round of golf easily. Besides, how do you know you’re healthier than Trump? Did you match blood tests? Echo’s? Weight is just one component of what type of shape you’re in. Thin people can have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. he sure keeps a busy work schedule and never seems to be tired.

lol. I haven't played a round of golf in my life. I have always said that when I reach that point in my life that I can no longer participate in real sports, I'll take up golf. I believe you are a golfer, so no harm intended.

I didn't say that I thought Biden was better on handling the coronavirus than Biden. I cited the same poll you did in which the majority of respondents believed Biden would do better in handling the coronavirus than Trump.

I will say that Trump's recent comments on opening up the economy have not helped him with older voters in Arizona and Florida. And if Trump fails to win Florida his odds of reelection are close to nil.

Given the age profile of fatalities in the U.S. and other countries, elderly people would die in far greater numbers if the economy were restarted earlier. Paul Zak, a neuroscientist and author of “The Moral Molecule: The Source of Love and Prosperity,” said a trade-off between the economy and allowing (older) people to die of COVID-19 reflects that society values people on their economic output, which ignores a multitude of other factors.

“It’s a very difficult trade-off,” Zak said, “and there’s no way of doing that without putting a price on someone’s happiness and that’s very hard to do.” Humans are the only animal on the planet that have fully developed moral sentiments, he added. “If you are around unhappy people, you tend to be more unhappy. Unhappiness is a stress response. That’s how we process it, and that affects the immune system and could, potentially, make you more susceptible to COVID-19.”

And which state has the highest percentage of people over 65? Florida.

I suppose there is some speculative basis for such a conclusion.

There are a number of "older voters" within eyesight on a daily basis and ear range on the phone augmented with blogging and texting. I haven't heard ANY whine about "opening up the economy"!

Nor have I heard ANY complain about the "young uns" showing up at government buildings to express their pissed off attitudes about those "executives" who have elected (without authority) to keep everyone at home!

Watching and Relying on the LameStreamMedia distorts a lot.

The loons who want control of the DNC and the government AGAIN do NOT want Biden to be "all there." Unfortunately, they have to select a capable VP to take over for him shortly after the inauguration, but their obsession with identical politics leaves them with washed out squaws and wet behind the ears loudmouths.

PissLousy wants the job, but she doesn't want to campaign for it.

She'd rather just steal it. More her style.

I read a poll that 30% of democrats want to dump Biden for some other candidate. This says to me that they’re well aware that recent polls showing Biden with a lead are horseshit.
