Unlike others let me be substantive: Serena's fat. I already said in another post she was out of shape. But looking closer, she's gotten older and less lithe in both the body and the face. She does not look as good as she did 15 years or so ago. The hair style is highly uncomplimentary. I don't think the cartoonist over exaggerated her looks much.

I didn't watch the match but Serena's always had a problem with unforced errors. If her monster serve didn't overpower her opponents she had problems with the elite players.

Serena had a baby just about a year ago. She'll be 37 in about 2 weeks. She suffered a pulmonary embolism in January. So yes, Serena is "fat" compared to the Serena of old. And probably less lithe in the body and face. How many people, athletes or not, are physically the same at 37 as they were in their 20s?

And she is one of the best female tennis players even today. 23 major singles titles, 14 doubles titles, and 2 mixed doubles titles. A record in the Open Era. She remains the one singular player that other women players do not want to face.
