You're free to move to Amsterdam if you agree with Kaly, but you haven't. Maybe you cannot afford the Visa fees, or maybe you don't think Amsterdam is all those things Kaly lists as attractive thus not worth giving up what you have in Austin. But the fact that you are not packing kinda proves that Kaly has not kicked any ass here. She hasn't even won you over.
Actually, IBH, I move to Amsterdam for several days whenever I can. Ditto for Copenhagen. Happiest people in the world. Of course everyone I speak to over there thinks we live in Crazytown.

But it's been your and Kaly's position that "touristy" stuff is of no account compared with actually residing there; so, it's evident that Kaly's argument has not had the "kick ass" sway that you earlier suggested ... as evidenced by the fact that you're still here and not packing to move there anytime soon.
BTW, visit Oslo. It's a beautiful city. I had the pleasure of working there for a few weeks back in the 90s. And visit Lillehammer, also. There's a ski-jump ramp there I really wish you'd try.

Take the train from Oslo to Bergen. Get off in Myrdal. There you can board a special train with reliable brakes that goes down the side of a fjord. Fantastic views. Tiny village of Flam at bottom. Take cruise boat from Flam to Voss, then get back on train to Bergen.
