Why is this a bad idea?

I have been having a discussion with a fellow hobbyist, Samcro, about the thread I started which asks ladies to provide an email address so we may contact them in the future in the event this site goes away.

Opposing view have not cited any examples why the thread was a bad idea, just that I'm not smart or a dumb guy or whatever. I can see some issues sure, but nothing that was an issue before as explained below. I would not have put the the thread up if I didn't know it was a bad idea. Or knowingly put anyone at risk. Seeing reputable members having already done it, I just started ours. Sounded reasonable to me to get contacts effectively. Anyone could have...

Why it's not a bad idea for that thread just from observation is that girls post emails here anyhow (not to mention non encrypted ones), phone numbers, and actually have a PM box on the site as is. So if a lady posts an encrypted email account in a thread aside from their showcases or ads, I'm not sure how that is any different. Not to mention. No one has access to those email accounts, no one. Or can get access to them. And girls still screen dont they? Pretty sure references are required when asking for an appointment or for services.

A PM followed up by an email or text keep in contact is still a procedure we practice right?

Many other cities have been doing it with good feedback, so someone please enlighten me on why it's a bad idea or better yet since the thread is up, why a lady shouldn't post their hobby email address there or on this site? I was thanked personally by 2 Houston members and several Austin members for having it up.

If I get really good reasons not to have the thread up, I'll ask for it to be closed.

There is nothing wrong with it. As you pointed out eamils are posted anyway so having a consolidated list makes it easier to save. Of course LE will be able to capture them as well but they would still need to pass screening. The ladies will not give up on screening just because eccie goes away. It may make it more difficult but life goes on. I am not convinced yet that things will change much. IMO this is a lot of worry not yet warranted.

i won’t argue good or bad idea, but with all the threads and posts revolving around what’s a provider and monger gonna do if this site were to be shut down has been so ridiculous. this reminds me of what happens to the public when the media announces a major storm coming and people rush to the stores and empty shelves practically preparing for the apocalypse or does anyone remember the the gas shortage scare and what happened because of it?? so the reports of tracking hurricane FOSTA-SESTA have predicted that it will be ravaging through Hobbyville, USA, and has the potential of destroying the community...bringing down all lines of communication. radar indicates scattered blue ball sized hail, many partnerless poor horny bastards will be lost looking for their next copulation, while the rest take shelter and settle for coitus with their wives. hookers will be directed to take shelter at the nearest community strip club.

people...too many are getting way too excited way too soon. imo, just calm the fuk down and let this play out...it’s not the end of the world.

im slowly working on staying off this site. thankfully i always have alternative options and resources to tailor and redirect to help feed my addiction...

IMO your thread is just fine. Simply put: all parties should verify the new emails with the old, keeping one eye open for impersonators and other nefarious activities.

While changes are certainly coming, my counsel is avoid panic, but definitely get preparations in place "just in case."

And, of course, no under 21's here any more and P4 has also made changes.

The difference between the gas shortage and this however is sesta is very real. The gas shortage had no facts and people went crazy on Facebook. Big difference.

I don't think anyone is panicking. Depends how you perceive things and reality I guess. It's just postings and reading for info is what I see. Its big news as it may impact the hobby as we know it here. 18 sites as indicated by Alpha here is no joke. No cause for panic, just stay well informed and keep up your contacts.

Ladies will have the hardest time no doubt without a site to pull resources from or ads to generate revenue. I wouldn't be surprised if more pms from ladies started going out to gents.

I agree, discussion and preparation isn't panicking. Panicking would be everyone disappearing ahead of anything actually done. We are just talking everything out so everyone is ready, just in case.

i wasn’t suggesting that FOSTA-SESTA wasn’t real...i was merely using a couple of analogies to prove my point regarding all of the ongoing discussions along with ur “preparations”, being much similar to the examples i had expressed. i get it, some people are calm and taking extra measures to procure their hobby life, while others are in panic. those that ive spoken to, only providers, have expressed much worries, having seen all of multiple threads opened up, along with never ending posts, and deep concern for their future livelihood. and i can’t blame them for feeling that way...every thread like another news show, reporting the same shit that all the other channels are showing. so yes, there are people panicking...and i get it. for many, this board is there LIFE! provider or monger, if this site goes down, it could be detrimental to a large population of the community.

I hear ya Hedo. And I feel the same way. At a social recently, no one seemed to be panicky. Had a nice time and met a lot of people. Many recognized my handle and compliments were shared. Lots of good fellowship with members of the board here. Contacts were exchanged with a few. So yeah. The board may give you a different perception than how it is actually going. Just all I was getting at.

Just like the news would make you think races are at war with one another. When really, walk outside in many areas and its not as bad. I'm sure some areas worse than others, but it's not as bad as media would make you believe outside.
