so does decriminalization mean it would be like a violation..like a traffic ticket? what is it considered now. a misdemeanor? its not a felony is it?

Like I've always said with the "other"
As soon as they can make a bigger profit off it being legal..
It will happen.
But
Keep in mind LOCATION.
Things change everywhere else before the Midwest & the "bible belt"
26 years ago In California..
Smoking became prohibited in public businesses.
20 yrs later it hit the Midwest!!

Same thing with that other stuff we can't talk about. Oregon, Washington, California, Colorado... long time until we see it legal here.

Legalization means there are laws that state when and where it would be legal, who was going to regulate it, how it would be taxed, and basically describing how the government fits into it (so to speak).

Decriminalization means that the government just says removal of the laws against it and keeping the government from bothering with it.

More here, including examples from other countries:
Sex worker explains the difference between legalizing and decriminalizing prostitution

In Missouri, barring other unsavory situations, Patronizing a prostitute is a Class B misdemeanor, as is Prostitution itself. So the same for both parties. Promoting prostitution is a felony (various class depending on situation).

In Kansas, Patronizing is a Class A misdemeanor, while Prostitution is a Class B, so it is tougher on the client. Promoting is also a felony in Kansas.

I do not see legalization within my lifetime and I'm over half done! LOL... On a serious note, when I lived in Northern California I hung out with so many advocates for decriminalization. THAT would be what my choice would be for the immediate. That allows humans who are being trafficked to, perhaps, have a better chance to be found and rescued if "we" (those of us who choose to hobby) are no longer under the threat of being arrested.

Now I'll go and read what everyone else had to write, I am very bad like that.

The status of a criminal charge is left up to local government. Cook County, where Chicago is located, made it a felony - gosh, 7 or more years ago.

Shame on you.
No, Tiny Tree, you are NOT a forbidden topic. Though many posters think you should be.
