Thoughts on female/internal condoms?

I'm looking for both the provider and hobbyist thoughts on using female condoms!

I started experimenting with using them about a year ago. I have found that I really like them for a few reasons!

I find them to feel a little less "intrusive" than male condoms. I can insert one at any point during a session, and it's ready to go. Moving from sex to BJ to sex is easy, as there is no need to take the male condom off and put a new one on.

They can really take a beating! They seem to be slightly thicker than male condoms.

I've had a few men say it feels better than wearing a male condom, but some have also told me they can't feel a difference.

The only downsides I have found is that 1. there is no way for me to insert it that looks sexy and 2. it can get in the way of receiving DATY when it's in.

No, it does not interfere with that at all.

I've only had one experience with them and I really enjoyed it. Like Audrey said, they do interfere with daty, so if you're like me and enjoy daty throughout the session, you'll have to adjust.

Everything else was incredible. In my opinion, these are perfect for men who have a difficult time achieving orgasm while wearing a condom and I would be much more inclined to visit a provider that offers this type of service over one that does not.

Seeking ~P is very experienced with female condoms and introduced me to them.
Feels great for sex, but a little in the way for DATY.
Both female condoms and male condoms way is fine with me.
I may have to try the female version more often to get used to it.

In my opinion, internal condoms have a more natural, unencumbered feel while proving the same protection of an external condom. More importantly, making use of FC2's can be empowering as it's a safe sex device which helps enable the receiving partner to uphold their sexual health and agency. Even despite any excuses someone with a penis might try to fabricate to avoid wearing a male condom.

Some men will try to use the excuse that an external condom is too "tight" even though a regular size external condom fits completely and comfortably over a whole human hand. And with "st**lth*ng" (which is actually sexual assault) being branded by mainstream media outlets as a new fad that's all the rage, the fact that an FC2 can be inserted hours before an encounter and still be effective is a fact I hope many more people learn about.

I feel you Audrey about the first concern you noted. But I do think any man who is more caught up about a female condom not being sexy enough rather than the hot babe in front of him is too fickle for my tastes. One thing that saddens me about them is that they are noticeably more expensive. (I find myself wondering sometimes why sexual and reproductive health products and services for women and femmes seem to be taxed.) A 3 pack is sold for $9.99+ which is more than $3.33 per count with tax. The best deal I've seen is a pack of 20 for $39.95 which is still $1.99 per count.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply, Lena! I would really like more people to know about them as an option for safer sex! When I first discovered them I found the FCs to be very intimating and awkward to use, but I think that's largely because I was NEVER taught anything about them. In fact, I received absinance-only sex ed in middle school.

It bums me out that they are expensive. Reproductive/sexual services and products should be free and available to everyone.

The best deal I have found was a bulk pack of 100 for 129$ online at condomdepot, so $1.29 a piece, which is totally useless if one can't afford to buy a giant bag of condoms. I do find that I typically go through less of them during a session than I would if I were using regular condoms. I usually only switch out the FC between pops, whereas with a regular condom I might switch out more often. Even so, I think it does end up costing more than using male condoms, which is a huge downside.

Also, they can be impossible to find in stores. I've never seen them at a drugstore, and have only found them in sex shops. I know where I can buy them in NOLA, but if I'm traveling, it's a huge pain to find them.

I think they are fantastic particulary when used with a good lube like Sliquid.
