Irony: The French requested the U.S. to deliver a "low yield" atomic bomb into the valley where the Viet Minh were laying seige to the French at Dien Bien Phu. It went to a vote of Congress. LBJ cast the tie-breaking vote AGAINST delivering what would have been a final lethal blow to the Viet Minh under Ho Chi Minh's leadership! That failure and the "politically" run "war" led to LBJ's fall and not NV.
