Default Closing threads

Why do the mods over here keep closing threads, I'd like to see the forum guideline that allows this. As long as a discussion stays on topic it should be allowed to continue.

What is the point in keeping a thread open that has already been hashed out. The only thing left will be people starting drama for no good reason because of different opinions. We don't close threads immediately unless there was something against the rules. Usually enough time is given so the topic can be talked about before closing the thread.

Once people start using the thread to re-hash the topic and not add anything new, the thread will be closed. Also, if a mod feels like the thread is about to go off the rails, we will close it. This is especially true if we notice an "attitude" that is there just to cause controversy or disrespect. We don't like trolls.

I've always disliked when the OP of a thread didn't realize the can of worms they opened and than want it closed.

A thread should stand on its merit. No matter if the OP doesn't like what is being posted on it. As long as it is topical to the subject.

I agree with PB, if it's on topic and the thread has not developed past the surface layer of its intentions then it's open range. Stuff does take longer time to develope here then elsewhere on this site. I find that a girl that is willing to engage (and guys also) in the realism and discussion of what really happens in this business, and the fact that we are all right from our own perspective. That's productive conversation and also beneficial for the guys and other girls just starting out and using this site as a tutorial, and the added benefit is that the girls can become extremely desirable in their responses.

For me that's a review worth reading.

ha-ha PJ-- good one, but you know only mods can close a thread, but you are right. Time to close this one. The OP's question has been asked and answered by not 1 but 2 mods.

In after the lock....like that bump?

Can't blame the whore for this one.....wouldn't it be funny if I bumped all of the locked threads in this forum from this year?

Just to see how many have been locked.

ECCIE Staff does NOT close any thread simply because the mod decides it's time to stop talking about the topic.

It's time to stop talking about a topic when the members don't have anything else to say about it, not because some dude thinks it might go off the rails.

A good lock is when you see numerous posts from members and a general consensus that it's time for a mod to come in and put the thread to rest. A shitty lock is when a mod comes in and abruptly closes an active discussion before all interested parties had a chance to air out their point of view on a particular subject.

Shitty locks are damaging to the board. Let's ALL make sure that's not happening around here. If anyone here ever finds themselves participating on a thread that they feel got shut down prematurely, feel free to let me know or any of the other staff on the site for that matter. We will be happy to give a 2nd opinion on it and if there's not an obvious and legit reason a thread got closed, we will promptly reopen it for you.

We are not all a bunch of idiots. Good mods can sometimes use bad judgement, and none of us, myself included, are above being called to the table by the members if somebody thinks we fucked up.

If that is true, and you were a Dallas mod, you would be closing 3-4 threads a day.

If you look at independent provider reviews as an example of how active a forum is,,,Dallas is getting 2 pages a day and as much as 4 pages a day of reviews. The Panhandle gets 1page of reviews per week, (on a good week)

Now no way I'm going to run those numbers as it relates to the percentage of closures based on members posting, and you have to also consider how much easier it is to pick out a shit stirrer in the panhandle.

I could post some vile, nasty, drama filled crap that is fake and it would have to stand unedited---that kind of spam in this area is unacceptable but in the Dallas area it's just an idiot and the post gets buried.

IMO, eccie much to tolerant, I think that sometimes a whole post should be deleted and a reason why is added as a replacement and a warning issued.

Default We need to REFORM.

The standards of moderation here in the Panhandle to reflect the the standards across the board. Fair representation of both sides, and fair, non-preferential enforcement of the guidelines/rules against violators that scoff at the rest of us who follow these guidelines.

Penalties imposed should be exposed for the reason that exposure deters violators and the unaware from repeating the same, either deliberately or by ignorance. Restricting access or visibility of these threads constitutes Censorship in it's most primary objective. To silence and keep the flow of information to the members that need or want it most.

A justifiable thread closure would not be cause for an uproar, but the heavy-handed, preemptive application of MOD-decided thread closure without any apparent reason other than the prevention of "DRAMA"? Actually causes more drama unnecessarily. Where do you draw the line?
