Default TexCity/Galveston area

I always wondered what the beachie cities was like in Texas...
I know they're nothing compared to California beaches though

Any insight on this area? I heard its been pretty ugly since the hurricane..

The vast majority has recovered from the hurricanes.

If you are asking about the hobby environment, its a wasteland.

If you are actually asking about the water and beaches, they are ugly. Currents wash all the silt coming out of the Mississippi river and other junk right to Galveston. You've got to go past Corpus to see anything worth a picture.

They are not beaches. The beach water looks exactly like the water when the streets flood here in Houston. Just brown and gross. If I am dying to be near the beach and get wet I go to palm beach at moody gardens and if I want to go the actual beach, I hop in the car and drive 8 hours to Destin Florida.

It's all we got. lol So don't let a little brown and black water dissuade you. Experience it, put it on and then write it off your bucket list.

Ohh and you will enjoy the coastal fried seafood and gumbo and our hurricane and 3 wheel motion frozen drinks are strong.

Galveston has cleaned up pretty well since the storm but it's still not Florida Lol and probably will never be.

All of the above comments are true.

As far as Texas goes, Corpus Christi down south has far nicer powder-sand beaches and clearer, cleaner, bluer water, but still not the caliber of Florida or California.

Have some grilled jumbo shrimp and one of their infamous Long Island Iced Teas at Gaido's on the Seawall if you're down in Galveston. Will make life look MUCH prettier.
