SSL cert for eccie?

Is there a reason Eccie does not use an SSL cert?

There are a couple threads on this topic in the national forums, but I have not seen a response from an administrator.

Without one all your web traffic is open over the wire including passwords.

There is nothing the local Austin staff can do to help you with this one. It's up to the site owners to spend the money to do that.

Some people unfortunately seem to have no idea what SSL is, or why we want it. Having personally hijacked people's Facebook and forum sessions using DroidSheep (for experimentation, I swear), I understand the need for it.

Then again, considering this thread is running vBulletin 3.8.9, there are probably plenty of other security holes.
