That's not it. We're just tired of the liberal definition of compromise, which is conservatives must give in and go along. The liberal idea of compromise is like the PLO idea of peace with Israel, nothing less than complete destruction is the goal. Man A is standing 10 feet from the edge of a sheer drop off. He does not want to fall to his death (give up his guns for the challenged). Man B wants to throw him off the cliff. They argue and shout for several minutes. Finally Man B (the liberal) says that they should compromise. Compromise is good right? Man A agrees and they move to within 5 feet of the edge of the drop off. After a few minutes Man B tries to throw Man A off the cliff again. Man A goes WTF and fights back. Neither side can get an advantage. Finally Man B says that they are not going to resolve this like this and that maybe they could compromise. After several minutes of shouting Man A (not wanting to look like an ass) agrees to the "compromise" and moves 2 feet closer to the cliff (where he is now 3 feet away). They both rest and while Man B is not looking, Man A steps back a foot (the sunseting of the assault weapon ban) and is now 4 feet from the cliff. Catching on Man B is angry and screams at Man A. After a time someone down the way falls from the cliff (they are not alone). Man B says that this is good reason for Man A to move closer to the edge (mass shooting). Man A disagrees and the argument starts again. Man B will never give up and will continue to try to throw Man A off the cliff. Man A will settle for just being left alone. So how is that compromise working out for Man A?
The message is always the same with you - anyone who doesn't agree with you is a racist, and an angry lunatic, and ignorant moron. When you demonize the other side, there is not much room for compromise.
