Why am I here? On the most basic level, that is a rather simple sounding question with a straight forward answer:

When I decide where to spend any scarce resource, such as my time, I look to get a better rate of return than I would get spending it elsewhere.

Shouldn't that be the basic rationale behind and decision to spend time, money, etc.?

In this case my rate of return is obviously not financial. At the moment—and the moment may last another day or a few weeks, or ????—this forum provides some interest, some humor (partially intentional by the posters and partially not), allows me to satisfy a little of my Don Quixote side, and allows me to try and enlighten a few people to my way of thinking. To counterbalance some of the perspectives on here that I find quite narrow.

I think I might be on it cause I sort of volunteered, although I will say I've gotten a bit testy with some of the others in the past. I used to try to punch Toyz' buttons, but just so I could get a chuckle from the reaction post.
