If you want casual and inexpensive, try Benno's on the Beach (1200 Seawall Blvd.) for PoBoys, hushpuppies, and a great outdoor eating.

We don't have any beaches at Galveston...we have a brown, foamy, stinky substance that vaguely resembles water, and we have seaweed covered, gritty, grey stuff that is a crime to call sand...

^^^ Yup! Smells like dead fish and looks like discharge from a Mexican sewage plant.

Check out Shrimp N'Stuff - it's a place for locals away from the tourist area.

Toasty must have missed this thread so, DH for him -
WU, when you're right you're right. No comparison to the ones in Dallas. Not even the same league.
Wait . . . what?
Did you say beaches?
Never mind.

I was trying to think of the make of that place...
There's also a fair cajun place on Broadway, uncle something. Driving in its on the right. Both are good food for the buck. Higher up the chain is, of course Guido's, or Fishermans Wharf by the piers. Have fun.

Lots of krill nearby, in case your GF goes in for that.
