Actually, there are a lot of people that don't get pay raises. Bartenders, waitress, car salesman, investment brokers, most professional athletes.... Etc. are just a few that come to mind.

They make a base rate then make more money based on how well they do their job.

I usually raise my rates because I'm getting thoroughly booked. Slash overly booked. It doesn't make sense to have a packed schedule, not enough time to relax, and feel stretched too thin on a tour when I could just raise my rates and see a few less clients, perform BETTER for those clients because I'm seeing less of them, have more time to take care of myself well while traveling and actually make roughly the same amount of money when all is said and done.

Supply and demand. It's a thing!

According to my own qualifications, I should consider raising my rates in Dallas soon. But I think I'll hold off for another 3-4 months and build up an even stronger clientele who I can grandfather in when I raise them. I would love to eventually be able to visit Dallas for a whole week at a time, every other month, so I'm not trying to throttle my volume or anything. I really enjoy Dallas!
