Default Something to watch in the Arkansas Legislature

Last night on tv there was a piece about new legislation introduced into the Arkansas Legislature. It is aimed at sex trafficking, but would also make the customers of someone who was involved in trafficking subject to registration as a sex offender. This is a very dangerous and slippery slope if it passes in my opinion. A guy who merely got a date and paid for a girl who he didn't know was a part of any trafficking operation would be required to register as a sex offender, presumably forever!!

I don't think we have that problem-- at least much-- with ECCIE girls, but it is certainly enough to make anyone interested in one of these new young girls think twice if it passes. And I hope like hell that someone doesn't decide it should apply to all solicitation cases.

Damn leave it to the government to work on BS legislation instead of oh say lowering taxes to help get the economy going.

Oh and if you are a customer and don't actually do the "act" how can you be a sex offender if you weren't able to have sex?

Gosh, if there were only a party that believed in leaving people alone, and limiting, truly limiting the size and scope of government. But who would it be?

Hmmm...maybe one founded on the principles of self government and individual freedom. Maybe starts with an "L"?

You don't have to actually complete an act. Showing intent to go through with it is usually enough. Like attempted murder. Or having lots of forbidden substances with intent to deliver. All they have to show is your intent to go through with it.

It should scare us all. Just the trafficking thing is bad enough. You never could tell if some hot young thing makes an appearance here, gets busted and is found to have management. She could turn on that management in a heartbeat, and some goofy local prosecutor who wants to make a name for himself could try to turn it in to a trafficking case.

But I can see one of those geniuses in the legislature thinking this is such a good idea, that it should apply to all solicitation cases. Let's pray that doesn't happen. Having to register as a sex offender seriously fucks up your life.

It's not really happening in Arkansas, but it's on the same subject. There's a lawsuit against Backpage right now one in Seattle and another in Boston. Looks like there trying toget them shut down the same way they did The Red Book.

Just google Backpage and should show up, article was written in the New York Times, can't post link as it contains stuff about minors.
