Default Anyone else not cool with being called a Trick or a John

Just fyi

I understand the official definition (trick = paying for pussy) but it seems too simple a definition. I guess subconsciously I don 't like being called one as I don't consider myself a trick. For example if I'm hobbying out of surplus and not using bill money or borrowing money to hobby then it shouldn't apply. Whatever happened to "it ain't tricking if you got it." When I decide I don't have it or don't want to spend it then I don't play. I'm not turning tricks to play like a clown. Not sure why but I don't necessarily like the word "John" either maybe it's because I see guys getting busted on TV shows they use the word "John". However, I do think being called a hobbyist or client are pretty cool labels.

I also don't like calling women whores and hookers as I prefer to use escorts and service providers. Maybe it's a stretch and certainly an uphill battle but if we're ever going to push for public acceptance of the profession we need to elevate the vernacular at some point. If we're calling them whores and hookers then it's likely to be harder to fight for legality of the profession due to public perception.

I think a good legal case can eventually be made as there's already a form of legal prostitution going on in some States called sex surrogates.

I understand your POV but I care and not just about what escorts call us but people in general. Think about the extended context of my rant. The sex surrogates are one in the same as escorts and clients but aren't addressed as tricks and hookers. Maybe that was how they got some legal acceptance / precedence.

You don't think we should label you, or hookers, with certain words...and then you turn around and say that labeling you, or them, with different words is actually helpful...

Who is to say which words are good and which are bad? You?

If a label hurts your feelings, then that is on you. Sex surrogates are not one in the same as escorts even though there may be some overlap.

:-) I would like to say common sense but wouldn't a progressive society determine that? Just like refined cultures in corporate work environments across America determine acceptable speech. The first part of my rant was personal preference whereas the second part of my arguement was actually making a legit defense.

Is hi-grading the vernacular in this business to improve public perception not helpful?

If you can please give me a legit counter argument that would make me concede the point.

Lol it's not like that at all and my feelings wont be hurt. It would be nice though if you guys could understand the greater context or extended point. I know people have used these terms for decades but I'm talking about progress for the profession. Feel free to call me anything you like curse me out even.

I personally find no machismo in using those terms towards women. Call me a radical maybe I like going against the grain but I think my points in context are valid.

Default Hooker Logic - IT IS WHAT IT IS

I can't stand the word fucktard either and it's used a lot here. Or any (insert)tard for that matter. The only exception is mustard. That's fine.

It's mildly entertaining to elicit the squirming and squealing you know will ensue when you call a spade a ...uh...instrument for excavation. But then it becomes boring, so off to fuck with the next bedwetter. And so it goes.

Words carry power, if they're allowed to. Bobby Irwin, artist, approached disarmament of naming shit thusly:

http://www.amazon.com/Seeing-Forgett.../dp/0520256093

As an aside, criminal prosecution of prostitutes and prohibition of alcohol were closely related to the ratification of the nineteenth amendment in 1919-1920. For you government school scholars, the 19th amendment gave ho's the right to vote, otherwise known as the beginning of the decline of the Republic.

Who cares if they call a guy a 'john' or 'trick'? Consider the source....I really don't care what they say at all because you don't have to see or hear from them everyday.
