OnStar, Is it On?

Is your life drama free? Can your significant other track your OnStar?
Us providers do not want to meet your girlfriend because she tracked your OnStar.
Turn off your OnStar before you come to see us. We do not want to meet your wife at our doorstep.
We get talked about enough by a bunch of PWs and we don't want the drama developing on ECCIE because you guys didn't turn off the OnStar in your car or in your hobby phone.

On Star can be accessed by anyone with the code, which is given when a car is purchased, since most husbands have their wives with them when they make new car purchase what you are asking is unrealistic. It can't just be turned on and off at your convenience unfortunately

Actually all you have to do is pull the fuse on the fuse panel....might not work on all cars, but it did on mine.

This is pretty informative! I had no idea that stuff couldnt, easily, be turned off.
It totally makes having a hooptie worth it, when doing your dirt.

If you have Iphone finder on your phone or have the GPS enabled on your android that will rat you out as well. I keep all those features turned off until I need them.

Same here JB. I keep gps/location services turned off too.
I only turn it on when i need to google map directions

Taking the fuse out won't work, a friend of mine is a GM master tech and says the vehicle can still be located (his words not mine). A family member was comparing OnStar with other manufacturers systems.

The is a backup line of power that is turned on when fuse is removed, this is a precaution in case your vehicle is stolen so the thief isn't able to just pull a fuse and steal your car without being tracked
