Anyone recall how The Heat tried to lure a young NBA rookie by the name of Tim Duncan to switch teams? Believe it was at the end of the 1997-1998 season, if I correctly recall.
David Robinson left his vacation home in Hawaii to personally plead with Timmy to stay on with the Spurs. And we all know how that paid off the following season: the Spurs' 1st-ever NBA championship.
That's why I especially enjoy the ass-whooping the Spurs have handed the Heat these past couple games -- sometimes you can't simply throw money at talent and expect to buy your way to a championship.
