If you ever have a garden, call me. providence willing, we shall plant some absolutely low-maintenance incredibly fragrant roses for you. These are mostly once-blooming, but some also have a later flush during the autumn.
You will be able to appreciate the different types of sweetness in the fragrance of Rosa alba, absolutely amazing, and a tough plant.
Then, the many damask roses, Rosa damascena. Compare the two.
The musk roses.
The gallica roses, are wonderful in their own way and the very best dried or made into potpourri.
Then, the hybrid perpetuals, still very old-fashioned, very fragrant.
Some of the more modern roses, the hardy fragrant ones.
So, that would be quite a garden. Start with 2 beds.
Raised beds, 4 feet by 20 feet, by 2 feet high, of 2 by 6 pressure-treated [non-toxic] lumber. As many beds as you want or are willing to invest in. Beds allow you to control the growing medium, and offer protection from critters and take care of business in a much more efficient way and get better results. 10-12 plants to a bed, fewer for the larger varieties. There are dozens of must-haves!
You will have fun imagining your rose garden in your thoughts and planning it; a very happy way to while away your time.
I know boring lol I just like whacking a few balls and a long walk! I grew up with golf so it gives me the warm fuzzies
