Default Screening Fee for Newbie

Please bear with me, I consider myself a newbie. Just trying to get educated.

Question: Is it common practice for a newbie to pay a fee (ie-$50) for first time newbie screening with a provider? or is this likely just a ploy to make more money?

TIA!

I think it is reasonable to pay a fee because the ladies have to go through a lot to screen newbies to be safe. I personally would rather not deal with newbies, but I can understand why the ladies would charge a fee. Many would not consider you a newbie since you joined in 2010 youre just not an active hobbiest but I wish you luck!!

It is not common practice to charge a newbie for screening. Some may ask for a deposit, but that's usually after you've been screened and you want to book an appointment. Based on the limited info you've given, it sounds like she's playing you. Please share her name and a link so fellow mongers are aware of who makes this type of request

This is the second post I've seen about this in less than a week...but until then I've never heard of such a thing. I'm not a seasoned veteran like some of the gentlemen here, but it seems like that is an unusual request IMO...the bottom line is a provider is free to charge whatever she wishes...so you can either pay it if you really want to see her...or find another provider who is more newbie friendly and doesn't charge that type of fee...just my opinion...

Sometimes a provider will charge a fee to go on a lunch or drink date with newbies just to see if they're legit, but no it's not normal to have to pay a "newbie fee". Jezz, what's next? A provider tax? a user fee? a two drink minimum?

I'd say move along. There are plenty of options out there that won't ask for the fee. You can always return to this one if there is something that has you hooked. And.....I'd also be curious to know the provider that is asking for this.

I do not make it a practice to charge extra for newbies and I have yet to meet a provider who does. And I agree with the previous comments to find another sexy provider who is newbie friendly and does not charge extra.

Wishing you lots of luck in this super fun hobby

From what I know, i don't believe a lot if providers want extra for a Newbie.... If you make me happy ( w/ info I need ) I will make you happy ( w/ ..... .. )
From the comments.. I think you have your answer!!
But Good Luck

Never heard of a business charging for new customers. They are more likely to pay a finder fee than charge one. Screening is part of the cost of doing business, and is one reason that providers charge $200+ per hour for a straightforward service. Seriously, when guys complain that their provider makes more per hour than a doctor or a lawyer or an engineer, people always point out that the provider spends a lot of unpaid time getting ready for that date -- including screening.

I suppose that people pay for screening when they are applying for a scarce resource -- think apartments or adoption or higher education. But I don't think that it is similar.

On the other hand, guys pay sites like P411 for screening. Depending on how often you use the site, it might be even more expensive than seeing Ember. Since Ember says she will give you a reference, seeing her once and getting a reference might be cheaper all around than P411.

Never heard of a screening fee at all. That is a ripoff. Walk away! But, I have had numerous ladies ask for less money for repeated visits. I have even had tips refused. The ladies are important, let's try to make them happy when we visit with them.

There are PLENTY of newbie friendly providers around here who do not charge that extra fee and have other ways of screening as well. If I were a gent I would not be willing to do that as screening is simply a part of making an appointment... they have to screen reviewed men too (contacting the 2 references) so I don't see the difference..
Makes no sense to me but I guess everyone has their own way of doing things..

I'm trying to figure out what a join date has to do with anything? Providers usually look at amount of reviews and whom the hobbyist reviewed. Exempting BP, here to day gone tomorrow high volume might be a pimp and fake pictures low lifes! Providers request current active providers in good standing for reference checks.

Just FYI: There have been countless threADS that have littered this site of newbies wondering how to get started and be successful getting started in their hobby carrier. Countless times it is recommended to join P411. What a difference that will make. Many providers use it as their screening tool. Others just say go bang a few fatties. Not real nice but it works. I have heard in the last year of certain providers nice enough to give newbies a chance but charge extra and do more exhaustive screening. Might even require you to give out real life intel. So in short lots of things will work. Look for newbie friendly providers and go that route but they seem to be few and far in between. Paying a few extra bucks and actually getting your hobby career off the ground seems like a GREAT idea!

Best of luck Snooky!

Well said Amigo...it.."join date" really does not have anything to do with being a Newbie... You see, I know guys who have been in this thing longer than me and probably you as well who will always be newbies..and I know guys who were not newbies even when they were...

For instance, IMO anybody who endeavors to negotiate a lower rate with someone they've never met is exhibiting newbie behavior..but at the same time someone who is new can work their way in by being polite and willing to cooperate with a providers rules.. We all had to start somewhere..

That's probably the best advice.
