Default So with all of the political changes going on in Colorado, has it made a difference with your business?

Although I have EVERY intention of keeping this topic within the Eccie guidelines, I AM a working woman and always looking for opportunities!!!

Has the current change of climate affected more people seeking out sex workers? I've heard that tourism has really risen in the state.

So does anyone have some personal intel on this? Should I plan a trip to Denver to work soon?

Just curious.

Always,
Elisabeth

Denver is poised to become the hobby capital of the US. A huge number of people will travel there for the "political" reasons you mention. This will result in a huge boost of income to the ladies in the area, and a dramatic increase in the cost of seeing a lady in the Denver area. This will also draw in a bunch of new ladies, but will also result in increased attention from the LE folks who have been reassigned.

It is going to be a wild year.

Thanks for the input!!! (And I also appreciate the PM that I received! I'll write you back in a bit about that and again, thank you!!!)

I figured it would either be like the wild wild west or something a bit more ... well, not sure what to say. I haven't been there.

I did wonder if MORE ladies would visit Colorado. All that I'm reading is how the tourism dollars are going to go through the roof during the coming year.

One thing I've noticed is an increase in the phrase "42* friendly" in Colorado Backpage ads that are known or probable fake / scam / rip-off / no-service. Clever move by those advertisers - trying to fool naive hobbyists into thinking they are legitimate providers visiting, or even moving to, Colorado because of the change in our laws.

(Another comment) do you have any data or evidence for increased tourism in Colorado, other than "I've heard"? Sorry but I'm just naturally skeptical.

Further, if overall tourism in Colorado is up this year (early 2014) as compared to the same time last year, there is another factor that is probably much more important than what we are talking about here: Increased snow in ski resort areas! In early 2013, the average season-to-date snowfall in 14 Colorado ski resorts was only 71% of normal, this year it is 110% of normal. (Sources: http://50.87.144.177/~bestsnow/011513.htm, http://50.87.144.177/~bestsnow/seas14.htm).

I suspect that the influx of 420 tourists is going to be so large, and the girls are going to be so busy, that the regular clients who have supported them for all these years are going to be priced out of the market.

It doesn't matter how good a client you've been all these years, unless you are willing to pay 400 or more per hour, none of the girls will have time for you. Only the 420 tourists and dealers will have the funds to participate.

Basic economic theory would then predict a large "influx" of escorts from other states, either visiting or relocating here, until supply and demand are equalized.

I wonder how many of those "420 tourists" will have sufficient girth (in their wallets ) to participate in a significant way. Well you made your prediction, let's check back later.

I've read some articles, probably on Slate or Salon.com or perhaps the NYTimes (heck, I do a lot of online reading) but right now, I think that I'm too lazy to actually try to find where I read that tourism was expecting a boon in Colorado.

Also ... we cannot mention, on this site, specifics. So I'm NOT speaking in specifics and using numbers and acronyms for my posts. I would suggest the same.

Regardless, I also wonder if additional tourism to Colorado would actually translate to more business for sex workers.

After all, if the new tourism for Colorado is geared towards visiting one area or experiencing something very specific, sex or seeing someone for a physical experience might not be in the plans for those visitors.

I thought that this would be a good discussion anyway.

Thanks for all of the input!!!

Always,
Elisabeth

I hope its OK to mention some items found in a search and will do best to avoid unwanted acronyms etc.

An attorney for an advocacy group in favor of the new law said, "It will mean jobs, tax revenue for the state and local jurisdictions, increased tourism and a developing progressive new industry in Colorado". This exact quotation appears in several articles. It should be emphasized this is a prediction from an advocacy group, and should be "taken with a grain of salt".

Here is an article from Agence France-Presse (AFP) on predicted "tourism surge"

I think the folks that were 'friendly' will continue to be 'friendly'. Since this is still in the infancy stages, I think it's too early to tell. Washington State also passed this ruling, so you would almost have to see what the atmosphere is there as well as here.

I don't think it will be as big a deal as most would like to think. After all, it still takes money to buy the product. It also doesn't really provide a safe environment for the hobby, just like being with a drunk, stoned people can be harder to handle.

I just want to offer the freedom loving people of Colorado my heartfelt congratulations for the great political victory that might be the beginning of the end for 70 years of utter madness.

Here is an appropriate song in celebration from one of Austin's finest bands
