I think that some hobbyists go through the same sort of burnout that happens to some providers. Almost every member of the bad attitude brigade used to be overwhelmingly positive contributing members, but then they turn into grumpy old men (regardless of age) who'd rather gossip, insult and bitch instead of sharing actual information about the hobby.
A pity.

Good point. So many of the good guys disappeared, and the more visible members of the newer crowd is more interested in trying to out-badass each other than to enjoy social time with like-minded guys and girls.
Remember the luncheons at D&B's? A remarkably asshole-free environment.

Even though I'm still on hiatus, I would still like to attend a social.
This being said, there is no doubt in my mind there is a small handful of assholes in the Houston forums would love toout the location to LE in an attempt to harass those at the social.
My faith in a very small handful of my hobby 'brothers' has dissipated in the past few years.

How can you tell current members what it was like to sit there and have lunch with the #1 rated escort in the US and just be pleasant and sociable.

Oh, I'm so fucking hurt that you didn't like my comment, but I stand by it. Like I care what you think.
At least I don't have >14,750 idiotic posts.
Here it is again, so you can read it some more.
Let me dumb it down for you......this board has thousands of members, and there may be some person out there with agendas toward anybody. You never know. There were rumors about a fellow member who outed the social that got busted several years ago. If this is true, obviously he had an agenda against something or somebody.
Paranoid maybe, but absolutely cautious.

These are board personas.. People talk shit on the board. Oh well. I've never seen any drama at any gathering I've been to.. Because guess what? This is the interwebs, and the real world is the real world. Most people here are wise enough (and undelusional enough) to understand that. Most.
I'm not speaking of the bust, or any bust, just the vibe and overall attitude of attendees.
If you go to parties to get your panties in a wad, you should go play in traffic.

I am pretty sure BP didn't just bitch slap D_J intentionally but that was awesome nonetheless.

Not sure about all this....
I have been to several of BigLouie's poker socials. I had a great time at all of them and enjoyed meeting new people. Count me in Louie...!!!

See. This is how you disarm someone. You take the high road (as blowpop did here) or you take the insult & own it (as I usually do).
Yet some people refuse to learn.

The big bust was just that, a bust. A couple of girls who were illegal were detained. Two other girls were detained but were never charged. Basically it was total waste of police money. When they came in they just told everyone to go outside and wait while they processed a few people and then they could come back in and resume the party. Of course no one hung around but that the police did not even bother to run everyone through for priors showed they realized it was a failed effort. And of all the parties over the last 15 years, that was the only one where police showed up. You actually had a greater chance of being busted at a strip club than at a party.
