Obviously most times it all is fine, but if you have to buy it, she has to verify it, blah blah blah. Just give cash and be done. Not one hooker on earth has ever thought "gosh, I'd rather have gotten a Macy's gift card than this stack of $20 bills."

I would only accept my donation in cash. If someone wants to give me an extra gift then gift cards are nice.

nobody hates money.
gift cards are what I consider scrip. It is only valid with those who chose to accept it.
cash, otherwise known as legal tender, is the only form of payment that extinguishes a debt and satisfies payment right then and there.
whatever works for the 2 people involved...

And then the dishonest hobbyist takes the information he copied down from the gift card and goes and buys something online, draining the value of the card.
Can't do that with cash. Anyone who gets away from cash in this business is not making a wise decision.

It's very important for some of the guys here to feel like they're smarter than the providers, and a handful of them attempt to demonstrate it repeatedly, with mixed results.
(I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to determine whether or not any particular hobbyist falls into this category.)

Oh dear BlowPop, sometimes I am surprised when you grab words straight out of my head.
It's an interesting concept. That could be a great topic on its own, don't you think? Trying to think how to word it so as not to offend.

I have faith in your abilities, my dear. It would be a very entertaining thread, watching all of the usual suspects deny how it applies to them, whilst demonstrating exactly the opposite.

I'm giggling inside just thinking about it. Just not sure I'm up to dealing with a bunch of people passive aggressively trying to prove they are smart and that I'm not nearly as smart as I think I am. Lol.

I've got a 14-year-old nephew who has the need to convince everyone around him how smart he is. The parallels between his behavior and so much that I observe here are remarkable.
