In my experience the mid range to higher end girls tend to be more reliable and provide a better overall experience but not necessarily a more extensive menu . They also seem less inclined to clock watch and try to shoo you away early.
Of course there are always going to be exceptions at both end of the spectrum.

I'm not opposed to paying the higher end rates if research indicates that it will be the type of experience that I'm looking for. But there are plenty of ladies both local and touring that provide a great experience in the 200-250 hr range.

It all comes down to demand. If a girl just starts out and gets popular she will raise her rates to the 300-350 range to try to control the flow of guys. Long term she will probably settle back down to the 250-300 range when the newness wears off or has a steady flow of regulars. Myself I look for the gals that deep discount the extra half hour or hour after the first. Or I just go cheap for a 100-150 half hour. I respect the girls business sense to do an hour for 250 or so, then 2 hours for like $350. Or 200hr then 300 for 2 hrs. I am all over the place on this too. I have had a gr8 time at 200 and GFE is much preferred. But I regular with a real sweetie who is no kissing and everything covered at 250. She is just very enjoyable to spend an hour with, Gr8 personality and perfect body for me.

Thanks to all for the responses; they've been interesting. Based upon this, it seems to me that we have a significant portion of our community who have no interest or intention of ever venturing into an encounter with one of our "higher priced" ladies. Of course, that is each person's prerogative to spend their money and time as they see fit. No argument with anyone on that. For me, however, I've always felt that, in anything, quality means something. Just as an example, for the past 25+ years, I've driven either a Lexus or a Mercedes. Not because I'm pretentious or self important (I'm not, at all), but because these vehicles are better made and last longer with a minimum amount of problems. I drove one of my Mercedes for eight years. To me (just my opinion, mind you), quality counts. I think this is true even when applied to our hobby.

Please understand, I mean no disrespect to any of the ladies who charge at the $200-$250 level. I have no doubt that there are many who provide a quality experience at that level. I do not demean them in any way, shape or form. It's just that, for me, it's about more than just sex. When I meet a lady, I want to enjoy all aspects of her.....her beauty (of course), but also her intelligence, her femininity, her sense of humor, and, yes, her sexuality. The fantasy aspect of this hobby is great, but I also like to get to know something of the real person as well. I do admit, the "low volume" and lack of clock watching are also factors for me and I believe that these are, more often, found with the higher priced ladies. If all I desired was a physical release, I could stay home and take care of that myself. Needless to say, price is no guarantee that any encounter will provide the experience that I seek, but merely a consideration to increase my odds of success. Research is still your best friend in finding the companionship you desire. When considering any lady, try to find out as much as you can about her, including photos, reviews, her board postings, etc., to determine if she is a compatible match for you.

Finally, again, no disrespect meant to anyone, ladies or gentlemen. Just my random musings about what is important to me. I do appreciate everyone's thoughts on this topic. Have a wonderful day!

As the demand for a particular provider goes up, her price will follow. A higher demand usually means higher quality. Two recent examples are Bobby Upside and Sweet Country Girl. They came in low, built a clientele and eventually raised their rates. I don't think anyone here would disagree that they are a higher quality experience.

There are "fast houses" not usually in the nicest parts of town tho.

While there are ladies in NYC under 250 (local and touring) .... when I spend time researching (as I do when it's an area I'm interested in but haven't toured yet or inexperienced in touring) looking through ads on different sites (bestgfe/ter/p-411date-check/eros etc) I see the majority starting at 350.
