The Apple I Pad (and some Apple Computers) can be locked down remotely. There is a find my I Pad/I Phone feature where you can locate your pad or phone, if you have activated it. If you haven't done that you can still cancel your on line accounts with Apple and prevent them accessing your accounts. Call the Apple Store and ask for help.
Sorry that this happened to you. But you have to get aggressive with this; if you don't this incident can haunt you for years, and make your life a living hell.

Both my laptop and iPad were password protected, so hopefully the thieves are not computer savvy and just trash them for good. I did not have the "find my ipad" feature on because I didn't realize there was one until after the fact, unfortunately. I contacted Apple and changed all of my information and removed the debit card associated with the account. Thankfully, I do not use "real" credit cards...I use only prepaid cards, so those were easy to trash and start over with new ones. I have been working tirelessly to change every password I have, including changing the one for this site tonight. I'm glad I read your post this evening JR because this is one of the only sites I had forgotten to change. Thanks for reminding me!
