Oh yes. I can be more than a handful to handle, if I wish to be.
I don't see an issue with getting points. It's a learning tool and most of the time, when folks get a few points, they naturally learn how to navigate the board easier.

Lol! I would have never guessed. I always love and appreciate how you respond and handle anything. And, I agree, it is a learning tool. It doesnt work for all, obviously, but it does for most people.

This ^^^^^^ is simple. Its people's personal opinions that others cant usually handle. And its wanting to interject a personal opinion that makes discussions get heated. Whether a hobbyist likes the thread or not, if the number of views and replies is high, one will come back to the thread to see who has said what or if someone disagreed with their post or if they can pick at someones thread to start an argument. Yep, it happens.... all the time.

Agreed, but then is it the fault of the poster or the reader.

Hhhmmmm... Now thats a tough question. Probably a little of both. The poster posts their opinion and the reader then posts their opinion. Both posts can be taken wrong or read out of context. And it also depends on others replies... I dont believe its the fault of only one hobbyist.
.... I only argue with myself in my own head... quietly. Lol!

I am refering to why there are those who feel the need to RTM a post, when they could simply self moderate and ignore the thread. So if someone continues to read a thread that they find objectionable then who is really responsible.

Again, say if someone RTM's something I've posted just because they dont like it and its my thread.... and because its my thread I continue reading it or respond because NOW im a little pissed off that I just got contacted by a mod...I still say its the fault of all parties involved. RTMing is tattling. It pisses people off. I think the mods can pay attention to the board on their own. If someone dont like what I say, respond or ignore. Quit RTMing. People know in real life its easier to just get over disagreements, but not so easy to forget those that resort to tattling on you. Tattling is tattling, real life or hobby. I used the RTM button after it was used on me and that was.... childish?... So im no longer going to use it. Like I said, its tattling and its a kiddy act. And thats what makes most people even madder.

I am speaking in hypotheticals and has nothing to do with what you or anyone else may have or have not done. Too me, the person hitting RTM is bascially saying they cannot stop themselves from viewing something they may find distasteful. The only thing that anyone can really control is their own actions. When someone contnues to respond to a thread that they find distasteful and then gets offended and RTM's the post it is their fault, they cannot control their own actions. But like most of America these days, everyone thinks the world should cater to their likes and dislikes, so instead of just reading the posts that have information that they want, they will force their wishes on others by demanding that something they dont like be stopped.

I agree with you on everything you just said. But hypothetically if one is reading the post, then posts, then gets mad and RTM's, THEN its the fault of that individual. We cant categorize that individual as a poster or a reader. He/she is both.

Anyway, whats y'alls input on this? Do you think we, as adults, are incapable of rectifying our differences without a mod interjecting warnings and/or points? This hobby is proving to be more competitive than sports!
And, I got more points on here than I do my dang driving record! Hehe

gemma, the following questions are not specifically for you. they're for anyone who gets points on this board [me included - 3 yrs ago up here for taking a thread way off track; 2 yrs ago in dallas for not following image guidelines]. it's just your initial post that brought this to my mind.
1. so why did you get points? once it was explained to you [assuming it was], did you understand why you got the points. and more importantly, have you learned a lesson from getting those points?
in my cases, i did and havent gotten any points since 05-25-2011 02:28 AM.
2. wrt "Do you think we, as adults, are incapable of rectifying our differences without a mod interjecting warnings and/or points? "
i think reasonable adults are capable of resolving differences w/out any moderator, referee, umpire, or dicktater stepping into our interactions.
but, "reasonable adults" is kind of a stretch on any internet discussion board [IDB]. in my years of being on IDBs [going back to Usenet circa 1988], people hide behind user names, avatars, reputations, etc. and become more assertive and less agreeable - because there are few to no consequences for being a jerk, dick, or asshole.
some users on this board are annoying, condescending, disrespectful, and/or downright rude and mean. but most are decent, respectful people who want info about providers and encounters. it's just that the former are usually "louder" or commented about more and become more "visible."
and sometimes, moderators, etc need to step in and remind people of the guidelines and/or rules, state the negative consequences of not doing so as well as the positive consequences of doing so [just like good parenting].
so, if someone is annoying, condescending, disrespectful, and/or downright rude and mean, by all means RTM!
if someone has a different opinion that you, then state your case and dont resort to name calling or "moderator, she/he is pissing on my parade!! wah wah wah"
and if someone is looking for a deliteful consultative encounter with one or more deliteful providers who post or advertise here, i hope you locate her/them and have an extremely deliteful time!!!!!
finally, it's not so much that "This hobby is proving to be more competitive than sports!", it's that some banter on this board is becoming more competitive that it needs to be.
but, that's life.....

What's RTM anyway?
As far as I know, I've never gotten any points but I do try to be respectful and use the board to help make my hobbying dollar go farther or at least to make sure as best I can to know what I'm getting into.
So maybe I'm the only one on the board that doesn't know this, but what the heck does RTM stand for?
(just like I don't know what the initials BCD stand for, but I have over the months and years figured out it has to do with how good a communicator the provider is on setting up and keeping appointments).

TCB = taking care of business, that is posting ad, replying to inquiries, scheduling appts, providing info about location of appt, confirming appt, conduckting the appt, etc.
BCD = behind closed doors, that is, what happens "behind closed doors", or in the kitchen, the living room, the patio, the balcony, the woods, the restroom at 33,000', the office, the adult video theater, wherever two people are when they "get it on."
RTM = report to moderator. use the little white triangle w/ red border and black exclamation mark to inform eccie moderators that a post might not be adhering to eccie guidelines. or if you just want to report someone and cause a ruckus or worse.
my acronyms [and i'm not one for liking acronyms in general]
gcho = go check her out, that is, go visit w/ someone i've never visited before
gvha = go visit her again, that is, go visit w/ someone i've visited before
