Could this be the beginning of a return to sanity in D.C.?
Apparently the GOP has actually put together a couple of short-term solutions which will temporarily at least bring the shutdown to a halt and hopefully allow some honest discussion and negotiation.
One from the House funds for 6 weeks and raises the debt ceiling.

The Senate proposal, or at least Senator Collins from Maine, called for compromise from all sides along with funding the government and calling for the repeal of the extremely unpopular medical device tax.

At least it's a place to start rather than everyone just screaming and pointing fingers.

I can't believe that an agreement allowing the government to spend a trillion dollars more per year than it takes in can be called a "return to sanity". But that's just me.

The House Republican told Borger it is "unfair" to promise conservatives in the country something Republicans in Congress just cannot deliver - the defunding of Obamacare
at least that dude has some sense

Didn't say it was a total return to sanity, just the possibility of start to that return.

The Republicans have been offering "clean " CRs to keep the government operating since Obama started shutting things down...the Democrats are retreating from their "NO NEGOTIATIONS " and "NO CHERRY PICKING " stance.

Here it is from The Hill..................
The House passed a Veterans Affairs spending resolution on Thursday, the fifth "mini" spending bill of the week that was sent to the Senate in an effort to reduce the impact of the government shutdown.
In a 259-157 vote, members passed the Honoring Our Promise to America's Veterans Act, H.J.Res. 72.

The law that is being enforced as of October 1st isn't the law that was signed by Congress years ago; nor is it the law that the SCOTUS ruled on. Obama changed that law substantially with exemptions, delays, and other executive orders !

The actual provision is for bills RAISING revenue, not affecting revenue.

Sanity in DC? In a town filled with narcissistic idiots? As long as they keep voting people like Shelia Jackson Lee to represent them, there will never be sanity in DC.
