From the tone, I'm guessing it was a sincere compliment. Some guys are stunned and awed by great beauty. Even if he knows that he can't afford to see you, the exchange of an e-mail will make him feel a bit better about himself. Perhaps you don't understand how some guys realize that they will never have anyone so beautiful in their real life (or, perhaps, their hobby life). An amazing beauty can become almost an illusion, or a creature from another world, instead of someone who lives down the street.

In any event, it doesn't cost any extra to be nice. It might make some guy's day if you do. And you never know when a rude word in an e-mail may send someone who is already depressed, or having a bad day, into an even greater tail spin. Count your blessings, say something kind, and move on. If they're a bargain hunter, so be it. You don't have to negotiate. Don't be insulted. Just move on. And know that one day, one kind word from a gorgeous girl may pull someone back from the brink.

Maybe you're right..that shouldn't be the case though....we're all equal and to me, physical looks is secondary to what's inside. At least I think that about men. I guess it's confidence/self-esteem issue.
I'm thinking of a gentleman in particular that sent me an e-mail like I mentioned in the original post. He almost decided to make an appt, then he changed his mind and basically said....No, on second thought...I shouldn't spend that much money like that. I don't care if it's Miss Universe...I'd feel guilty spending that money.
I thought...well, ok...why did you contact me in the first place? To chat to see if I would come down in price?

Maybe he just doesn't have enough $ around to spend, but he's paying a compliment. No matter where I'm at if I see an attractive woman I pay some sort of compliment.

Like most others who have responded, I think he is looking for you to offer an discounted session. My guess is that he really would like to visit you, but his hobby budget just will not allow it. I agree that your best response is to thank him for the complement and move on. Thus you would be responding without being negative, and it may give him the incentive to save up to see you.

I don't think you should be insulted by his email. His tone sends me to memories of high school, when I would have loved to take the cheerleader to the dance, but I was a pimple-faced geek and did not have a hot car.

I vote for the high school grade social ineptness mixed in with a little trolling for either a special or a reduced rate based on his smooth, swav-ay message.

Some guys rent it for convenience, some because they'll get something that they don't at home, and some because they don't have the confidence or skills to get it on their own in the RW. Ain't no thang any way you slice it but I'll apologise for those of who aren't perfect, male or not male.

If you're getting a lot of these "fishing" emails, and you're having to comb thru them looking for the best ones - the most legitimate - then I could understand the frustration. But as many others have said already, a little bit of kindness in return is going to be worth the effort. Your one-sentence reply is sufficient, and I'm sure he appreciated the courtesy, even if you didn't negotiate down...shows you have some class, too.

(I'm glad I skimmed over the other replies on this thread. It ultimately saved me time, in replying, and saved readers from another redundant reply when a simple +1 would suffice.)

Why is is that when a girl negotiates, it's negotiation and when a guy does it, he's being a "cheapskate" or a "troll"?

Frankly, that just stinks to high heaven for me. This is a business and in a business negotiation is a fact of life. Now, if a girl chooses not to negotiate on her rates, that's fine. Just like I have no issue with a polite opening to negotiation from a guy.

But turning this into some sort of moral or insult issue by either gender is simply ridiculous.
