Thanks for the useful information! Seems like I am not going to do the whole NO thing for many reasons.

More of a time for play... Just not the right play I'm looking for! Working play is what I desire for the trip and the area, I am not familiar with. Might swing through New Orleans some time, just not at that time!

You can google and find numerous stories about NOLA doing "human trafficking stings" in cooperation with the state police and FBI.

Maggie McNeill did an article about police stings - please be sure to read the referenced article which she links to. These cops think they are some mean bad asses I tell you - even the lady cops. However, they did take some pretty dangerous criminals off the street - including an investment banker who was only passing through town and single mom with no other job.

Looks like youve gotten good advice and heeded it. Its not impossible to get rooms this time of year, but for mardi gras its best to book rooms waaaaayyyyyyyyy in advance. Given all the other reasons and that youve never been, I think you made the educated choice. Since it looks like youre going to be in Laf, dont forget to swing thru LC and make up for missed opportunities.

Lake Charles has one too, I went a few years ago. It wasn't as good as some, I have the pictures still lol.
