Default Greatest Rock'n roll band

So I am laying up watching the Rolling Stones documentary (awesome by the way) and one guy said they are the greatest rock'n roll band of all time. Its tough to argue his pointt, but I am curious what yall say. I need to think about it, but I would easily put the Stones in the top 5 "for all time" rock'n roll band - if not at the top of my list since I love they blues and they are very blues oriented. I will put out my list, but I am curious to what yall think.

Maybe I need to be laying up with a lady rather than watching the Stones documentary?

Led Zeppelin has always been number one to me. My favorite Stones song is Waiting on a Friend. Favorite Zeppelin song is Tea for One. Although my Zeppelin song list would be MUCH longer!

Nicolet hit it right, Zeppelin, would have to be first, along with the Stones, but the Beatles would have to be in there as a leader in that era. I also would enter Black Sabbath for consideration.

I have to admitt if you like the good ole rock and roll there was no one better than Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The music now a days just does not compare. But that is not to say they are not trying, heck they are still remaking all the old classics. Can't beat em join em..lol

Zeppelin is the undisputed champ of rock! Right now it's Pearl Jam hands down - best live show ever.

You know, I love the blues. I get that Zeppelin is a blues oriented band, but not one of my favorites. Top five? Maybe, I have to think about it.

Not a bad list. I might have one or two of those on my list. Not Pink Floyd though. I never have gotten why people liked them. (Yes, I did own Dark Side of the Moon)

I actually like Metallica even though. Metal isn't my thing, but I love the bass and the beat that Metallica has. Enter Sandman is one of my favorite workout songs.

I have met David Johansen of the Dolls and a few of the guys in Aerosmith.

Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles, Floyd and Skynyrd as already mentioned but there are few still not mentioned. If we are to consider blues as an influence I also include BB King, Santana and The Dead. Dead is not everyones cup of tea but I can sit back and listen to them and it just is great.

Of these my favorite is Floyd but if the question is the best band everI have to say Zeppelin and Dead.

AC/DC The Bon Scott era with notable mention to Brian Johnson for Back in Black
Black Sabbath
Lynyrd Skynyrd - The original line up.
Metallica
Nirvana
The Who
Led Zeppelin
The Allman Brothers
Pink Floyd
Rolling Stones

I own complete catalogs of many of these and never get tired of listening to them

I could never pick the greatest as they have all made great contributions! Unfortunately, I could go on with the likes of Alice in Chains, Eric Clapton, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, etc...

BTW Dallas you are so right who hasn't gotten down n dirty with Kashmir , Whole Lotta Love, or In the Evening playing in the background.

As for heavy metal. Metallica.
Rock. Van Halen, the ramones, ac/dc, iron maiden, the cult.

By far on my list. Cowboy Mouth. Fred Leblanc, an unnoticed amount of talent.
