Some observations.. I suppose the market will in fact set the rates over a period with certian modulation from time to time. So be it I suppose, but it is difficult when ladies you enjoy set their price point above your hobby budget after much research and getting to be comfortable with them..
I try to practice responsible hobbying.. ie. not spending money I can't afford. Heck, the reason I still work is to hobby.
I want ladies to do well. I know what you do is difficult ( I have looked in the mirror) I just don't want to be priced out of the pleasure of your company. I want to say that when some of us ask about rates, specials, grandfather rates, etc. it isn't mean spirited or even cheapskate. I just want to try to afford to see you, and I want you to want me to visit.. I don't haggle I just politely inquire. There is a difference.
When ladies raise their rates they will no doubt leave some good respectful clients behind.

Hmmm I just figured the showcase "managers" are increasing their fees and wanting more money to create sophisticated ads, answer pms, phone calls etc. Providers have to offset the cost i guess. It ain't charity ya know.

This is how I've thought about it too but wasn't really able to put it into those words.

I think some providers think it's an insult when we ask about specials, grandfathering, discounts, etc. I can see that point of view....like maybe we don't think you're worth a certain dollar amount.
But there is another point of view. I WANT to see you! I've read your ads, I've looked at your showcase, I've read your reviews, I've checked out your posting history, maybe I've talked to you in chat or thru PMs.
Everything is awesome except the rate is just not something I'm comfortable with.

The reason's I'm not comfortable with your rate is way more about me than about you.
Money is real and I have many responsibilities, I have to find a balance between hobby and real world that works for me. I have a rate that I've stuck to now for 15 years (with very very few exceptions) that works for me.

I can list at least 5 providers I'd love to see right now that have rates I'm just not comfortable with. One of my thoughts is what if I have the best session I've ever had? Am I now stuck seeing this great provider at a rate I know I'm not going to continue with long term?

I mean come on there was a hand full (1-3) of them that said something but the point is this...It will not change fella... If you contact her and she do not want to lower her rate...trust me fellas there is a lot of beautiful women who will see you AT THE LEVEL OF YOUR BUDGET! If she elects to see u don't low ball her if your budget is $250 and her hourly rate is $350...Pay her $250 and tip her bcuz she is doing YOU a favor not the other way around.... again....not trynna start shit just trynna get us back focused as to what this HOBBY really is....a business transaction.

I have 115 100% Yes reviews *knocks on wood* and I've never been much into soliciting or asking for reviews. I have stayed at $250/hr range since I started. Very briefly I raised it to 275 because my hours of availability are limited but that seemed to cause more confusion so I just stuck with $250 rather than going to $300.

I hadn't considered raising my rate to $300 since I was not aware of this rate hike the OP is talking about, but based on some of the comments on this thread I'm thinking it's not such a bad idea.

Who wants to deal with guys who bitch about a lady's rate. I'd rather just raise it and stay away from those types.

Just a friendly suggestion....maybe consider keeping your existing clients at your rate...and adjust the rate for any "new" clients? ...You're business do what you wish....I love ya either way....muah...

Personally, I think providers should charge whatever they want and adjust accordingly until they reach a level of sustainability and achieve work/life balance. This will allow them to identify their optimal rate and possibly maximize their profits. Conversely, I don't think providers should express their discontent in a distasteful way when a hobbyist expresses his desire to be fiscally responsible in his hobby endeavors (bitterness is unattractive on both ends). Thats capitalism for you, there will always be this dichotomy and dynamic within the hobby world.
