These last few days for some reason I have been thinking of how the roles of men and women have changed over the years. Whatever happened to the men and women of yesteryear? When men were men and women were ladies.

I really think that Gloria Steinem threw a monkey wrench into things. I enjoy being a woman. I have no desire to be equal to a man. Yes, I like doors being opened for me. In yesteryear it was the responsibility of the man to take care and look after the woman in his life. In turn she supported him and his career, and of course stroked that ego of his.

While women are busy trying to be equal, we have pushed men right out of their role. It seems they get bored and go on to the next 'plaything.' Why wouldn't they? Women of today don't need a man.

I think that's what I call a typological error (i.e. it's logical to make typing errors): Cleaver, instead of Clever.

And I agree with you. When women were the load-bearing beams of the home, it was easier for the home to stand. And it was easier for the home to stand against internal and external pressures.

My SO has a full time job and we have a kid at home. I'm gone a lot in business traveling, while she is at work. The home suffers.

[However, when I am at home, it is still my job to cut the grass, take out the trash, and change the litter. Now, I could use a little change there! LOL]

I understand what you are saying.I often think that many of us who choose to be escorts are actually in some ways throw backs to an earlier time when women were more feminine.

Although I do feel kind of bad for my mom.She was a bit of an extreme femininst when I was growing up.MS magazines , and Gloria Steinem books were all over the house. So out pops me lol I can be quite independant when I have to be , but when it comes to the way I relate to men I do prefer a feminine approach.

I have been on my own for so long that is the only way I know. Sometimes it is so hard for me to keep my mouth shut. I so often have the attitude of, get out of my way, I know how to do it better, and I'll sure tell you about it. A few weeks ago I learned that men are very capable of ordering their own meal.

You guys do do that back channeling. No wonder my overnights have dried up. I should be more like June and get up a bit earlier to have my coffee. Then I'll be ready for my man.

While we never got to see it...TV was more gentle back then, I think June learned that "to get down a bit earlier" was the way to keep Ward happy.

LOL yes this is why I do not usually offer overnights( well this , and the dog will not let me)before my four shots of expresso It is better to simply stay out of my way. I am like June Cleaver on crack

I love equality for the sexes. I think women should have true equality with men. If a woman beats her husband, she should go to jail. If a woman doesn't want a child she has the "choice" to keep the child, and the man has to live with that choice. Why should a man be forced into fatherhood if he "chooses" not to be?

There is no true equality in this world/our society. Women have taken over in many aspects as head of household. I have a brother who cannot do anything without his wife's permission. He works a LOT and she shops a LOT. He has to ask to buy ANYTHING, and she spends mucho dinero on useless crap.

Unfortunately it is still true that men make more than a woman in the same job with the same qualifications. But that needs to change.

When I say I am for equality, I mean it. In every single form and fashion.

I found that on an overnight waking up and bringing coffee back to bed always seemed to pay dividends

While I very much get your perspective and do see that it is very true, I see a different side of the coin. Perhaps it is due to my likes and preferences, my advertising and marketing,but I meet gentleman who seek a dominant woman who likes to take a gentle(and sometimes not so gentle) lead. The men I meet are ALWAYS in control, making important decisions almost every minute of their day. They are intrigued by a woman who enjoys taking the dominant role,a more masculine quality.
Maybe I am just a man trapped in a woman's body,lol. I know I have the sex drive to match.

Some of this is going to sound real sexist here, but things began changing moreso after the hippy generation. During the early 70's my mother never worked. My father made enough to support all of us, 3 brothers, a sister and of course mother. By the end of the 70's hyper-inflation hit and my mother was forced to start working to help ends meet.

I'm not blaming women entering the workforce, I'm blaming govt. policies that forced both parents into the workforce.

Elizabeth Warren did a study for the Clinton administration covering bankruptcy in the US from the early 70's into the 90's. The study showed that most American's filing bankruptcy were not people living outside their means, it was the cost of everything skyrocketing. When mothers stepped into the workforce en masse, the cost of general living expenses went up when babysitters and daycare became the norm. Her study showed that a family used to be able to survive on one paycheck per week and still part of it was able to be put aside. By the end of the study, the family required two paychecks to remain solvent. When savings were depleted and the bankruptcies started, most were due to unexpected medical expenses and unforeseen circumstances, natural disasters, et.al. A lot of us are old enough and most likely grew up with at least one parent at home and we benefitted from that. Today with all of the single parent homes or both parents in the workforce, kids don't have the benefit of learning from a parent. Have you noticed how much more undisciplined children are now compared to those of us who benefitted from having at least one parent home while being raised?

Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at the whole picture. There isn't any one person or group of people that put us into this mess, it is a combination of a lot of bad decisions by a lot of different people. When you start to see the big picture you might actually see that all of the problems we now face are the results of years of abuse of our political system by everyone inside the DC beltway.
