If you're worried about a "paper trail" with a username that might give you away, do not post here. You do not exist to anybody in the real world unless and until you post in public. Send an email and we will handle your request.
Accounts are never deleted. Accounts are either disabled or "guested."
We do not guest an account for a retiring provider/hobbyist. For someone just wanting to step away from the board or the hobby we only disable. We can only guest an account if there is a serious security or serious privacy concern.. thats it.
Disabling takes place when there is a need to cancel an account. In other words, the username/account is frozen and closed.
Disabling preserves the username should the member wish to return to it in the future and reactivate their account here.
Guesting takes place when there is a need to wipe away traces of a particular username, only for privacy and security reasons.
Guesting releases the username from ownership of the account holder. Not only is their account frozen and canceled, but the handle changed to a guest handle which could allow someone else (anyone) to come along at a later date and register with that username.
