No 'may be' about it; you're dead wrong. You're wrong about the purpose of the laws, too: they're designed to disenfranchise voters (we have election integrity, except where the GOP gains access to voting systems' software). Care to try for strike three?

If someone does not vote because ID is required they have made their choice. We are either in favor of election integrity or we are not. Fifty years ago it would have taken some work to gather a list of 5,000 registered voters and walk into the polling place knowing what names to use in order to vote using someone else's identity.

Different story today. As for parties wanting to pad their votes both sides participate in this and that will continue whatever the laws say.

Candidates need to slow down their whining about 'fair' elections and work on earning the votes they desire.

Allowing non-citizens to vote in national elections is unconstitutional.
Local elections are different and I would agree with that if I reside in a community and pay their taxes then I should be able to vote there.

I would not have any issue with non-citizen active duty military voting in any election if you are serving the country you have a vote in my eyes.

On the subject of voter suppression right wingers seem hell bent on limiting or eliminating mail in ballots that is a much more direct effort than just trying to 'disenfranchise' voters

It's illegal for non citizens to vote in ANY Federal election period.

That's never going to change. Why are conservatives thinking that's even a remote possibility?

DN69, few people realize non-citizens can apply for an identification number from the Government so that they can pay taxes and such.

Added benefit to them is that it shows their residency and they've been pulling their share in paying up their taxes.

Well, `there is the uncontrolled influx of foreign nationals who have already violated the law, coupled with the persistent demand by progressives that they have a pathway to citizenship.

Asylum seekers have to apply via the US Embassy in the country or their origine or apply to the government of the first country they enter . . .the millions who just walk-in to the USA hav3 not done do that.

The pathway to legal immigration, asylum and eventual citizenship begins at the doorway of an American Embassy or Consulate in one's home country.

My American family tree has 20th Century roots in Europe, and each of them sprouts from an embassy.

i don't have an issue with mail-in ballots as long as they are only sent to those who request it and with proper verification.
