You are right my brother.

Pay the college athletes and end the charade.

the more conservative answer would be end all athletic scholarships by colleges and quit spending billion on stadiums and coaches and let kids go back to playing

We have entire communities that owe their existence to having a major Division One University in their town.

Have you ever been to Lubbuck Texas, the home of Texas Tech University. 3/4 of the people in that area make their living off of something connected to the Univetsity.

I doubt anything will change one way or another. I am currently putting two Grandaughters through college, (one at Texas, one at Tech), and the cost for each over the 4 years will top $200,000. That is based on a 15 semester hour curriculum.

So a division one scholarship is worth $200,000 at least.

And these are State Schools. Private entities like Baylor are at minimum 30 % more.

Of course, both could have went to San Jac, then transferred to U of H, but that's not what they wanted.

Jackie, You say that based on what? I personally know recent graduates with high GPAs that are struggling to get $30K jobs from "moderately" prestigious universities. Of course they don't have EE degrees.

In all seriousness, the process Amazon had the cities go through was ridiculous.

Fucking Stanford is $100,000 per year if you pay for everything like I'm doing for one of my Grandkids. (of course, I have him in a real nice place so he can date and then marry a pretty young Jewish girl to maintain the chosen people)

I fucking hate California though the weather out here is great.

We need to send all the liberals packing to improve California for real Americans.

You are right TM. What began more than 100 years ago as college spirit enhancement, is now a multi-billion dollar entertainment enterprise. On the backs of kids recruited at 17-18 years of age to trade athletic talent for scholarship, education, room and board, and a stipend. It is professional football - but only a few make it the pros, and some in coaching. Some do not get a reasonable education of value. One can lose a scholarship with an injury.

The system is geared to make money for the schools, and on the backs of the athletes.

Are they Slaves - not technically - "A well paid slave is nonetheless a slave" Curt Flood.

Should athletes be paid more by colleges - probably - but good luck with the NCAA and college Presidents.

Please dispense with the "Plantation politics" - I am fond of using - this is non-partisan issue and not relevant - IMHO./

TM - the endowment of the tu system , and overall athletic programs of the system - are greater than than the departed to the SEC rival.

No I am not honorable. Keep in mind, if I did not do this, they might end up living with me and then my having to support them.

I know far too many men and women my age who are raising grandkids and often have the whole Familly living with them. It's better to pay for an education up front.

By the way, the way I know what the real cost of college is because with my Grandaughters, this will be five college degrees I have paid for. And I don't even have one.

I am a Widower of 20 years. I feel fortunate that I have enough means to do this.
