Hard to find those anymore from what I understand.
Probably some hid out in a few humadors.

Holts has the MB 3 for 79 per 20, it is the variety bundle
represented in the picture posted, not bad.

Most overrated IMHO

Just about anything from Alec Bradley.
Especially the Tempus and Prensado.

All show and not much go I thought.

Most Rocky Patel also, except the edge is pretty ok.

If you are a big fan of Oliva V I would give AB Nica Puro a try. About the closet I have found to the V.

The oliva V Lancero is awesome if you like a real flavor bomb.
The closer ratio of wrapper to filler steps it up a notch.

I think the smaller size helps to even out the humidity in
the Lancero also.

Wish there were more great Lanceros out there, the large
smoke bomb high 50 and 60 gauge smokes are more popular,
I guess because people think more tobacco is better when a closer
wrapper to filler ratio gets you the best flavor usually.

Even the Lonsdale size is getting harder to find.

Now this is a conversation that I will gladly join!

Cigars are classed and treated much like wines, and while I prefer dark, dry, full-bodied wines (Argentinian, Italian, Peruvian), my taste in cigars trends towards a lighter-bodied smoke. For my experience with medium to heavy body cigars, my humble opinion is that the Gurhka Evil resides at the top of that class, to be interchanged with Padron Family Reserve.

Personally, I prefer light-bodied cigars; cuban seed grown into Dominican or Nicaraguan leaf. I got into cigars via Cohiba, but those are the GPS of the cigar world.

My all-time favorite cigar is the Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne Edition.

It's flavorful, and combines well with a dry dark red, blended whiskey, or your favorite single malt. All the flavor of an $18 Cohiba, for a $4-5 Toro.

A close second, but a nonetheless second - which means I don't smoke them because of how much I enjoy the Perdomo comes Oliva Connecticut Reserve.

Both the Perdomo and the Oliva can be found in pretty much any cigar shop (and the Gurhka), and many cigar shops report that the Perdomo 10th Anniversary is actually their best selling cigar.

Finally, worth trying at least once in your life is a Davidoff. Maduro for those who like the heavy flavor, Grand Cru for those who like the light flavor. In provider terms, if Cohiba has GPS, Davidoff is the UTR SB.

Life is short, enjoy it.

Not much of a smoker anymore, but every once in while I like to sit outside on days like today and have an arturo Fuente Hemingway and just not think about anything.

You are a true aficionado. The lancero is pure and without filler.
I keep about 135 boxes unopened at any given moment- all brands and varieties.
Some are over 20 yrs old.
I'm looking at another 50 open boxes that I am currently burning.
The LFD double ligero lancero is one of my favorites.
Most Olivas are good smokes at a great price.

Picked up a couple boxes of Habanos while in Istanbul recently.
Mediocre and overpriced imo.

Wrong!!! Different blends lend themselves to different sizes. Some are better suited fo lanceros, some for robusto, Churchill, toro, etc. Not sure what you mean by "filler". A blend is a blend, now the ratio changes depending on size and try to achieve a uniform taste/complexity for a give line of cigars. All cigars have a filler, binder and wrapper.

Right-

I say no filler - not much inside except quality leaf- no room.
Lanceros have much less filler and that allows the wrapper to dominate.
It is one of the toughest cigars to roll properly and the best leaves are used for most lanceros.

Understand in theory but that is not exactly how the blending process works.

If you are a fan of LFD try their N.A.S. Ugly little cheroot. If you can keep it lite the strength is over the top. Wrapped, binder and filler are all legiro. Because of this you will probably have to spark it several times to keep it going. Make sure it the last smoke of the day as it will fry your palate.

some of the best stuff being pumped out currently is AJ Fernandez and RoMa Craft. Both are producing quality product at a good price point.

Another good website is halfwheel.com. They stay on top of the industry.
